I suppose this is indicative of most industries. A continued downward spiral of quality while the prices stay the same or increase. I have an older Gerber Suspension tool with similar features to compare. This new one was bent from the start and just feels cheaply made compared to the older model. I have an even older sliding Gerber multi-tool that feels tougher than the suspension tools. I will put this one to use in light duty applications, but this is certainly my last Gerber multi-toy

I am happy with the item, but there appear to be some potential defects with my unit.
  • When closed, the halves do not line up properly.
  • The spring action that holds each tool to the body has a significant amount of play on the screwdriver side, allowing the tools to rotate out farther when closed. On the other side, each tool stays flush to the body and the spring holds them down.
  • The screwdriver side does not fully lock into place when opened. The other side snaps into place immediately, where the screwdriver side requires significant effort to get into a position where it will no longer rotate.
I was originally going to live with this and try and bend things back the way they probably should be, but the screwdriver retracted while I was trying to use it and I don't want to risk that happening with eg. the razor blade. If it weren't for these issues it would be a nice tool. Other people also seem to have shoddy QC on theirs too.
