I'm looking to get a closed back set of headphones for under $300. I am considering these, but does anyone think I should be looking at other comparable closed back headphones?

I got the ATH-M50x on here, they're pretty not bad.

Hi, got the open and closed version for a while now - will post some more stuff about them soon. The closed ones in my opinion sound a lot like the open ones, maybe a tad more on the fun side of life, but both without harsh treble (a least after some hours of burn-in). As these headphones are both very light, even the closed ones don´t block a lot of sound in both ways. If that´s what you´re searching for, there are better ones.
So, if I had to choose between these two (I´m not a studio guy, just a listener), then I´d choose the open version with the pads of the closed version - the pads are definitely way better sounding than the velour pads which are/were stock on the open version. The oval "pleather" pads of the closed version on the open ones make these sound a lot more natural and it brings out the mids. With the velour pads it´s a bit like the music is further away from you or however I should describe it. Differences are really easy to recognize.

Bang and Olufsen Beoplay H6 gen 2's.. Hands down nothing comes close in that price range (or anything I've yet to come across several ranges above it). I have the ATH-MX30x's, 40x's and 50x's (actually prefer the 30x's as they sound more natural and less engineered, Senn Momentums gen 1 and 2, Beyer DT990 pros, HD600's.. The H6's blow them all out of the water sound wise in every conceivable sense. I do recommend replacing the cable with a good aftermarket one which can be found for the cheap on Amazon, because the factory cable is crap. And a good cable made a world of difference. For a closed back they have a brilliant sound stage, and the detail and clarity is phenomenal. They're never harsh or sibilant and the extension is great both ways. They're also the first pair of headphones that if anything ever happened to them I would instantly place an order for a new pair in the time it takes to go online and do it. They're very light, comfy, and gorgeous to look at.
