Not that I'm suggesting anyone would seriously consider purchasing this beastly thing, but on the off chance you are, I feel compelled to point out Drop is using the descriptive term "Swiss Movement" more than just a little loosely. A quick search through the usual movement specific sites (I'm using Caliber Corner at the moment) reveals there are actually two versions of the "Swiss" Ronda 5130 movement--one version claims to be Swiss made, while the other claims only to be made from Swiss parts, meaning the latter is assembled in a location other than Switzerland (between you and me, it's likely the Peoples Republic of Inexpensive Watches, but that's just a guess on my part). Aside from politics and labor costs, the differences between the two Ronda 5130 movements comes down to Jewels. The Swiss made movement has 13 jewels, while the Swiss Parts movement has only 6. Does any of this matter? Only to the extent that one should know what they are getting before they press that button. In this instance Drop isn't telling. I don't suggest that Drop is intentionally trying to pull a fast one over on you. The reality is they probably don't know which movement is used in this offering, and maybe worse, don't care. They're hoping you feel pretty much the same way--makes it easier for them and you. In the final analysis, A) it's almost impossible to find a bad quartz movement days and B) you don't have to spend $300 to find a better looking one than this abomination.
