Damn this is insane. I got this drop less than a year ago for $450 now it's $620. By George am I thankful. GPU prices really are wonky right now.
I just wish there would be another drop around that price because I really want to try these in sli
You're honestly not going to get much out of SLI these days.
True, and with the price for gpus, it would be better to just hold off until the next generation of cards
IF that next gen will ever come. I am still on a 970, and I thought I would skip this generation, and now it is two years later and I really regret not upgrading. I have missed a couple 4k monitors because I know my 970 cannot really handle it. I would love to buy a 1080 or 1070ti, but not for $600.
The 970 is still a decent work horse and you haven't missed anything or the 4k side of things. Even the Titan series has trouble doing 4k at 60fps in some triple A games. It also means that you can get that beefier card and a lower cost 4k when it comes around.
I actually moved from a 1060 3 GB to a 970 4 GB. I think it's still a good card. I can play Forza 7 at 4k res just not ultra settings. I got the 970 for 200 bucks and sold the 1060 for 275 when I originally paid 230 for it. If you see a good deal on a 4k monitor, take it, the 970 will surprise you I think.
I actually JUST upgraded from a 970 (last night) and just bench mark tests alone I'm getting about 70-80% improvement with just a 1080, not even a 1080 Ti. So sure... the 970 still works... but it's the difference between 35-40 FPS and 60-70 FPS.
A 1080 or 1070 ti cannot handle 4k, some games will still struggle with one 1080ti. shame on scamdrop
It's coming around sept. Expect an announcement mid-summer.
