Hey everyone,
Based on the comments here, we've been in touch with the vendor and they are working to resolve this. Here is the latest information we have:
"The best solution right now is ship out hybrid ceramic bearing that matches with our first generation photos to match with customer expectations. Black outer and inner ring with ZrO2 (Zirconium Dioxide) white bearing balls. We are confirming the timeline for our bearing supplier to ship out 995 pcs to Massdrop warehouse in NJ, will update your team ASAP.
Additionally, they provided information about why they've made this change: "From our constant testing and improvements, stainless steel balls are actually closer to a perfect round circle while rotating. Under the same gap specification between outer ring inner ring and bearing balls, that result in less noise, friction thus longer spin time..."
We will keep everyone posted as we have news about shipment of replacement bearings. Thanks for letting us know so that we could find a solution, and for your understanding and patience as we work to deliver that ASAP.

Yeah their justification doesn't hold up. My center bearings are noisy with audible friction, plus obviously made of stainless not ZrO2 as advertised. They make a light squeaky metallic noise when spinning. I would appreciate a replacement bearing as well as replacement instructions as not to damage my device.

+1 for instructions. Drop clearly states "Plus, all four of the bearings can be removed if you want to upgrade them later down the line." I have been looking at mine and trying to figure out how the 3 counter-weight bearings come out. To me, removing them requires pure brute force. I need to take a picture and upload the area around the central bearing of mine as it does not seem to be de-burred correctly.

48 hour update please. 1. What is the final plan to fix the problem? You mentioned "best solution right now" in your last statement. 2. When can we expect final resolution? 3. Will there be any compensation to your customers for this fiasco?

It just takes brute force to get them out. There really isn't any other way. Just be sure to focus the pressure on the outer ring as not to damaged the balls

Please keep us updated. The sole reason I joined this drop was for the ceramic bearing

Everyone should have gotten an email with the same info - the vendor is going to ship us replacement ceramic bearings and we will ship them out to members. Updates about those parcels will come to you directly. Is there something else that you were looking for updates about?

I haven't received an Email pertaining to the receiving a product that was incorrectly described. Please include me in on this as I am equally disappointed that I purchased another product through massdrop that wasn't as described.

I haven't gotten an email about this yet either. Please include me on this as well, the whole reason I joined was for the ceramic bearing.
