Ginger makes the best quality scissors. I have a pair that are over 30 years old, and they will be sharpened for the very first time, ever! (Someone used them on paper! grrr)

JudyPretty sad that $75 scissors can't be used to cut paper, too. I'm sure that $20 scissors can last for 30 years without sharpening, too, if you only cut thread with them.

LunaThere seem to be 2 types of people on massdrop: those interested in actual deals, and those looking to throw away exorbitant amounts of $$ for dubious "high-end" products. I'm in the former camp. If massdrop had more actual deals, they'd see more positive posts from me. ;-)

zoomorphLet's look at it like this. You bought a fountain pen. Why buy an expensive pen when you could have gone to the dollar store and bought a pack of 15 pens for just $1? The same goes for scissors or any other product. Sure you can buy the cheapest thing you can find, but it doesn't mean they'll hold up or do the job you need. These scissors will last a lifetime for someone who is into sewing or quilting and they are heavy duty and extremely well made. They cost more than a cheap pair of scissors but for most they will pay off in the end.

LunaI agree with Luna! If you zoomorph don't want scissors, don't buy scissors! But don't bag the rest of us! And by the way, the postage costs are awesome for Australian customers like myself. You yourself say that it's largely a matter of personal opinion as to what is reasonable. It's hardly your place to decide for us what is reasonable when it comes to something we are knowledgable about. There's nothing wrong with splurging on a product that will do the job better than it's cheaper counterparts, just the way an artist would pay top dollar for good quality paintbrushes. You call yourself practical but practicality and reasonability is admitting that paying a little more for something that is better made can be worth it in the long run! Rather than buying a $20 pair of work shoes that will fall apart in 4 months I will pay $100 for a good quality pair that will last me 3 years. What is the problem with that?
