I would pay that for something handmade but this is most definitely 3D printed. I don't see how this cast could be handmade, it appears designed probably in maya or something. If this is a 3D copy of digital artwork then it's definitely not worth it at $50 each. Is there anymore background into this process? I must admit I am ignorant.

HologramsThey very well could be either/or. It would be an incredibly difficult and time-consuming task to cast and mould these, but I can see how it would be done. I can also see how people think these were SLA printed. I guess what's probably making people think twice about this are the number being sold, making 200 of these would not be an easy task for a single person, and with the difficult structure, it would seem like he'd need to use a new mould for each figure.
Perhaps having GirlDC answer some questions for the community would help alleviate some people's concerns? I think it's unfair for people to accuse him of printing them without him having the chance to defend himself. Artisan caps are too expensive for me, but I'd absolutely love to see the process involved in making such an intricate figure.

OdusIt's definitely the 100 minimum order that has me thinking this would be printed. You are absolutely right though, a Q&A would go very far. Perhaps artisan keycaps are out of reach for me as well. These would come in at just under $90CAD for me shipped.

HologramsI'm actually surprised by the MoQ as well. Like I've mentioned before, I have the cap and it does not feel nor look 3D-printed--at all. Feels and looks just like any other artisan I have. Smooth and detailed. A little too detailed, but great nonetheless. Wouldn't be surprised if he took the same route as Martin's HKP caps.

romeviHow does it fit onto the switch? I was planning on getting a couple for some infrequently used keys, but I wanted to make sure they fit firmly onto the switch. Also how do they look next to other artisans? I am mostly concerned with quality/fit though.

CrbrMost of my artisans have to have a little push to fit snugly, just like any other keycap. There's a little yield before the stem of the switch penetrates most keycaps. The girlDC caps I have, though, don't have that yield. They just slide right on and off; in fact, you can remove them with just your fingers, no keycap puller necessary. They won't come off easily if you press them, but, as I mentioned above, they're more for decoration because of their height and complexity.
The SVC is the tallest artisan I have. It's more in line with row 1 SA, and the translucent color has a nice shine with LED switches. I can take a pic later and post it when I have a chance.

romeviYeah, a pic with it on the F keys between other caps would really help me get an idea for how it will look. I am not worried about the height, but I am worried about the width. For the snugness of the key, if you were to flip the keyboard over and shake it, the key would stay on right? I don't plan on pressing it much, but if it comes loose from the limited amount of stress I do put on it, I would be inclined to pass on the $50 price. At ~$30 I want a key that looks unique or is of good build quality. At $50+ I have much higher expectations.

CrbrOkay, so I had a chance to fiddle with the cap and take a few pics next to some other artisans, but I won't be able to upload any pics until tomorrow morning. I'll edit this post some time tomorrow morning/early afternoon with a link.
But, I will say that I was wrong. I tested the fit issue with two other girlDC caps, but not this SVC one. Turns out this girlDC artisan is just like any other cap--a tight fit to get it on there, but when it does it goes right in and stays put! So no falling issues whatsoever. In fact, I couldn't even get it off easily with just my fingers.
That said, the size issue is still a thing, as will be evident in my pics. This is not a cap to have next to other ones, so your best bet is to have it as a standalone Esc on a TKL/104 board. The only MX board I have at the moment is a custom B.face, and I couldn't use the SVC cap next to any other ones without it pressing adjacent keys as well.
@YanboWu: Oh, wow. I had no idea these were 3D-printed. I own one and would've thought it was like any other artisan due to the quality. Holding it now, and wouldn't know it was from a 3D-printer.

CrbrSorry for the delay. Here are a few pics of the cap next to others on a board: http://imgur.com/a/6I2ob
For reference, it's a 60% B.face with GMK Triumph Adler, and adjacent to the SVC cap are Binge and Bro caps.

romeviThanks for that. I like the translucent one the best. Might have to drop on it.
