Functionality weird, software in Chinese with little to no explanation
I was stoked when I found this numpad in Drop and even more excited when I received it months earlier than promised. I must be honest: I do not like it. First, functionality feels odd. The battery came discharged and the charge indicator showed no signs of life. After charging it, the charge indicator still didn't work. I had to "activate" it and it just remains one color when charging or blinks red when battery low. And it turns off if you turn the light effects off. Then the sleep function. Numpad disconnects and every 5 minutes or less, I have to wait for it to wake up and reconnect. NumLock deactivates numeric functions so I can use cursor, del, etc., but when pressing any of these, it returns to numeric, ignoring my keypresses. I haven't tried to configure it with the software but the app makes Windows ask "Do you want this program to make changes to the system?" every time I turn the computer on. Also, the resolution is fixed at 1200x900 so it's not useful in a laptop with an non-Full HD or retina display. A lot of cons and one or two pros. Anyway, I'll keep it and try to get used to it. But not gonna try hard to. My 10-dollar generic 2.4GHz RF numpad works a thousand times better and it's always ready. A single AAA battery lasts around 3 months.
I don't like it. Maybe if someone has a tutorial or clear instructions in English it could be worth the investment. Right now it's the only product I have got from Drop that I do not like.
spacecornpart2Thanks. Mine came with a printed copy of that. What I meant is I'd like the configuration software had any instructions. Most people say it's like QMK but having no experience with QMK, I must admit I was lost. The software has no help and is a bit confusing. Lots of trial and error to make it do what I want it to do. Also, the fixed resolution of the app made it difficult in a 720p screen as it was clipped at the bottom and some messages did not display until I added a second monitor.
AristarcoSame exact experience, does it just charge over USB? Never really sure what mode it's in, nor is the configuration via function key intuitive. I regret this purchase.
Vpleb242If put on cable mode, it doesn't charge. If put in BT, it charges slowly, way, way slow. Maybe because it has all these LEDs on, consuming all energy. But turn them off and you lose the battery charging indicator and, it seems, the charging too. After full-charge (eons later) you turn it off and if you turn it on a week later, it has low-battery again. Seems the scan routine responsible to detect the turn-on combo consumes a lot of battery. I ended up installing a real power switch. It made the battery last longer. Like 2 days longer. Can't wait to gut it and use only the case, the plate and the battery with my own board.
