Hi Everyone,
Similar to @Bugfragged (commented previously) , I also purchased this from KPRepublic. See picture below. I got the SA Lime keycaps (just numpad) from Pimp My Keyboard. The numpad has a really nice weight to it, which I like. The stabilizers seem to be factory lubed. There were way too many screws and it seemed intimidating for a novice like me to take apart and re-lube so I did not. I put the zilents v2 67g on, and they sound/feel great. The return key is a bit louder (maybe due to the stabilizer), but it does not bother me too much.
I have not tried wireless mode, but will start beginning today and see if it lasts more than 1-2 days and can report back. The software GK6XPlus is okay, but I honestly did not use it much. I installed it on my personal computer then changed the color and that was about it. I primarily use the numpad for my work computer and was able to connect to bluetooth very easily (FN+7, FN+8, or FN+9; dependent on work permissions for bluetooth of course).
Lastly, to turn off, you hold FN+TAB (for me, it's the '=' since I did not have a FN key with the numpad kit). Hope that helps!
I'm using 6.0.0.29. I downloaded from kprepublic. Use at your own risk. It's some random google drive link.
Yes, exactly what you mentioned, select layer, use the right margin to select one of the presets, and then save.
I was having issues changing the lighting for each layer using the software as well. I was on 6.0.0.31 and recently they released 6.0.0.32 which fixed the issue for me.
>Short battery life has been confirmed by others in the discussion here.
I agree this is pretty limiting, but putting it into context, the Filco Majestouch Convertible 2 has been *the* bluetooth-enabled "mechanical keyboard" for a while now, and it only lasts a day or two on it's batteries. I believe this is something to do with bluetooth itself, because this problem doesn't affect the boards using Nordic MCUs like the Mitosis, Redox, Centomere, etc - those last months.
>Whats the point of a Bluetooth keyboard if you have to keep it plugged in...
Switching between your computer (wired) and your phone (bluetooth).
Want to note that the driver software for this thing installs files that get flagged by Norton and removed. Take that as you will. If you use it as is and universal drivers you might be okay, but I’m no expert.
No, you only use the software to program LEDs and keys, though I had no dice on key remapping. I use it plug and play style on multiple apple devices and one windows machine that I used to program it once. It can be hard to set up in bluetooth without a cable plugging it in on some devices, guessing range on antenna limited by metal case, but unsure.
griponrealityOh this is disappointing. I only got this so I could pull it out in the rare instance I need a numpad. The wireless and RGB isn't even really needed, but it damn well need to be plug and play. Is there anything better I can get since it looks like this was a waste of money? Still need hotswap, though.
Yes I am the source of that battery screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/Cc3nzzx
The LEDs obviously should make a difference but i would say it might be something along the lines of 24 hours without LEDs and maybe half with them on. So about a day. I can do a more empirical test soon.
ComradeExpatriateJust a *rough* estimation. Let's say one RGB LED takes 20 mA. I can see 21 LEDs there, so it makes whooping 0.42 A total, doh! The battery capacity, according to your screenshots, is 750 mAh, then 750 / 420 = 1.786 hours. So the LEDs *alone* will completely drain the battery within one hour and forty-seven minutes. Even if each LED is rated 10 mA only, we are still pretty short. On the other hand crackedweapon reported, here in the discussion, that the keyboard dies overnight, even with the light switched off completely. Thak leads me to the conclusion that the inner circuitry is power-hungry on its own.
I already bought one from KPRepublic, but I'm glad to see it being offered here too.
Also, this is the site where you can download the latest GK6XPlus software for the numpad.
This is also available in KPRepublic. Right off the screen it might look a little bit pricier than here, but on Drop once you account for taxes and shipping they end up costing similar. Not sure if I want to buy yet either way because I'm a bit weary about both money and potential shipping/delivery delays because of current situation. But here is the link:

Is there an owners manual or something for this numpad? I connected it via the bluetooth cable and the lights are working. None of the keypresses are getting registered. Nothing is showing up in the bluetooth. Some post here talked about pressing the "fn+backspace" or something like that. I have no idea which one is the FN key or anything. I didn't get any documentation along with the product either. So if anyone knows how I can get this thing to work please let me know.
Yeah... drop can almost never replace items based on how they sell things, especially if they dont make them. Although I'm surprised you couldn't at least get a refund if it's actually DOA. Did it ever work? Or was it always a dud? Drops support has been pretty good for me in the past.... i might ask again to see if it can be escalated?
And yeah, if its one of these foreign companies, you usually can't expect any support.
