this is antiquated. you can now get (amazon etc.) clear ice molds, which utilize directional freezing to get clear ice, and can get various shapes including spheres or cubes. and the price is 1/3 of this device.

i got the glacio clear sphere mold for quarter of the price, makes 2 at a time but longer freeze time

ColbraDifferent use case. This is for forming spheres out of ultra clear ice. Usually a service industry gimmick (the originals were super expensive) but this is actually "affordable" for the home boozer.

Just wanted to let my fellow Canadians know that you can buy a spherical ice mould at Dollarama for $4, which freezes 4 spheres directly. Probably not as perfect of a sphere as this, but a heck of a lot cheaper. Surely such a thing is also available in the US and elsewhere too.
