How the fuck does a scrap of leather folded in half and stitched cost fifty dollars?

RemoraHi Remora, thank you for your post! Making something as simple as this pen case is a very complex, time consuming and highly manual process. There has to be a proprietary dye made in order to properly cut the leather. There has to be time put into the actual designing of the leather case. We went through multiple iterations of samples and designs to come up with the final pen case you see today.
Furthermore, all of Glaser Designs' products are hand burnished and their vegetable tanned leathers are hand finished with cosmetic grade human skin care products. This allows for excellent aging of the leather and the leather will only get better over time.
The Glaser family has been producing high quality leather goods for over 4 decades now. Their products are highly regarded and there is a high demand for their products with leather goods enthusiasts.
And people are willing to pay a large amount of money for their products. For example, their briefcases cost around $1,200: http://www.glaserdesigns.com/Pages/Briefcases/FlaptopBags/FlaptopBagsPD17FB.html
After taking all of these factors into consideration, we felt that $50 was an appropriate price point for this pen case.

MehulI was wondering if the pen case could hold a Mont Blanc 149 size pen?

classicsThanks for the question! Sorry, but it will be a very tight squeeze. The diameter on the Montblanc is around 14.8mm. The pen case is ideally for pens less than 13.5mm in diameter. I know the pen case can easily fit a Lamy 2000, Lamy Studio, Pilot Vanishing Point and Pilot Falcon. Hope this helps!
