Product Description
Perhaps best known for its 24-hour Airman tool watch, Glycine has been producing quality timepieces since 1914. This one, powered by the company’s own GL293 21-jewel automatic movement, wouldn't look out of place on a pilot’s wrist Read More

123PSRGreat tool watch with pedigree! Haven't noticed any issues and its keeping great time. Should have included a a leather strap. While the nato it came with is a good one, this is a pilot's watch afterall. Other than that, very pleased with this purchase.

Great watch! I’m happy with the fit and finish, and haven’t had any of the quality control issues mentioned below. The movement is keeping good time, running at an average of just over +2s/d over the past 7 days. The movement inside is actually an SW-330 base instead of the 2893 that was implied by the 21-jewel description (Sellita has 25). As ETA parts get harder to find, this may become a positive change. The feel of adjusting the movement and the sharp date change feel and look better than most ETAs I’ve used.

I have mixed feelings. Watch was accurate in time which is a plus. Bad point is I need to get it fixed twice. 1year the min and hour hand was misaligned. Meanining at noon or midnight, minute hand would point straight up but the hour hand would point between 1and 2. The hour hand will be half and hour off. Warranty fixed it twice but I still had to pay a little. I would NOT recommend. Maybe I got a lemon.

Beautiful vintage looks pilot watch with impressive background history. I'm enjoying it with a black calf strap in my office. One huge problem is Glycine's package box. The watch holder in it is too loose. When I opened the box, the Airman DC-4 didn't sit at the appropriate position. In addition to that, unfortunatelly the DC-4 didn't work! It must had been moving and hitting in the box during the delivery because of its poor package design. This is the reason of -1 star. P.S. The response of Invicta repair center (Power Brands Limited in Hong Kong) was great! Thanks for the quick reparing. https://pota-run.blogspot.com/2018/04/massdrop-watch-damaged.html

I've searched many years for the perfect 24-hour watch, and so far this is the closet I've found. It takes a bit of time to re-learn how to quickly tell time at a glance with this style of watch, but it's worth it once you do. The only things I'd like to see different are (1) eliminate the date magnifier - it takes away from the clean lines and is not terribly functional or needed, and (2) enlarge the glow-in-the-dark footprint on the minute hand. In the dark, it's difficult to tell the time because the glow-in-the-dark areas on the hour hand and the minute hand are nearly identical. Other than that, it looks great and the size and weight are just right - I love it!

It's a nice watch, very unique and eye catching due to the 24 hour dial and sweep, which is why I bought it. At one point something happened to the movement which caused the hour/minute hands to be off but I had the movement replaced under warranty and it's been fine ever since. Definitely a nice watch for the price!

I've enjoyed this watch. I purchased it for the 24 hour watch face and the reputation previous Glycine 24 Airman watches held. It feels a bit less well manufactured than other watches I own, but I really like the aesthetic and the 24 hour time. I too felt the included watch band was functional but aesthetically bland or cheapening.

The arguments for and against the Purist and GMT versions will be different according to whether the focus is on design, including historical aspects, or functionality. The original Purist design can track two-time zones whereas the GMT versions can track three so the choice here depends on on the weight given to original design v funcionality To understand the unique position of the DC4, one facet of the mechanics of the Purist and the GMT models is important. The Purist obtains its 24-hour rotation of the hour hand by attaching it to the GMT stem of the GMT movement and simply disabling to the conventhand part of the GMT movement. However, this ability to track three time zones created an interesting situation when reading the time at the first (local or home) time zone, since the hour hand now rotates twice every 24 hours but the dial remains the original 24-hour version. This means that it is necessary to tell the time at the first time zone by remembering what the positon of the hour and minute hands on the Airman would represent on a non-Glycine watch. From the point of view of conserving the original appearance of the dial this is not a negative factor but it does make it more difficult to tell the time depending on ability to adapt or readapt if more than one watch is owned. This leads to the final point that there is some support for the point of view that the DC4 might be the best of the many Airman options since it is easy to tell the first zone time and it retains the ability to track a third zone.
