Product Description
Glycine’s 24-hour Airman is an icon of the watch community. Originally designed for pilots, it’s found a wider audience since its release in the 1950s, not only for its unique design—the dial is numbered 1 through 24, with the 12th numeral at the 6 o’clock position—but also for its ability to display second and third time zones ... I received my Glycine base 22 purist and intially loved it. However, upon inspection, I noticed the hour hand is slightly misaligned. The hour hand does not align with the particular hour. The alignment occurs when the minute hand is at the 22 minute mark. Has anyone else encountered this problem? This gives another meaning to Base 22. All jokes aside, I am disappointed

Since there were no more in stock, Drop gave me 2 options: 1. Send the watch in and receive a full refund or 2. Keep the watch and receive a partial refund. I picked the 2nd option. And rather than sending it to the repair place which the manufacturer is directing everyone and pay more money, I opted to take it to a reputable watch and jewelry store here in Okla. City. For what it would have cost me to send it to Utah and be without it for months, the watchmaker fixed the problem in a couple of days. It turned out that the hand needed to be reset and tightened. Evidently it was slightly loose causing the slip.

So the “GMT” has a 24h dial but a 12 hour sweep? But then both watches have the “GMT” feature. Are there any other differences between the Purist and GMT besides a 12h sweep and a red GMT hand?

Couldn’t you theoretically have 4 time zones per watch, 2 per hour hand? As in the main hour hand in relation to the dial and bezel, and then the GMT hand in relation to the dial and bezel. Does the GMT exist just so that the main hour hand and the GMT hand aren’t always a fixed amount of distance away from another?

Not really in the GMT because the local hour hand advances two GMT marks every hour: it's a 12 hour scale whereas the GMT markings are 24 hours. So trying to use the local hour hand with the bezel would be harder (you should divide by two the making on the GMT bezel so you get a 12 scale hour) and anyway the fourth timezone would be relative to the displacement between the two hours hands. Take in consideration that the single hour hand in the purist model uses the 24 hour scale, which means it works the same way that the red GMT hand: the hand will move half the rotation compared to the local hour hand in the GMT model.

after i have read your comment, i opened my watch box and checked all of my waches. interestingly my sevenfriday (miyota 821) and my seiko turtle are my quietest watches. i think their cases are very thick that not allow the sound. i have valjoux, eta and other japonese watches. my result is the glycine not the quitest for sure but not the loudest also. im using it nearly a week, in daily life i have not heard any sound by now. i think, stop looking for sth upset you. its a great watch, enjoy it bro. cheers!
