You destroyed the brand. I sell all my glycines. I do not know the manufacturer who sells retail if have the distribution network. I just bought my glycines from the distribution network. No one will hear about swiss Glycine in 2 years. Now it is the same scrap as Invicta with no prestige and respect. I do not even want it for free
watchcollectorDon't sell your Glycines! It's true Invicta has bought the brand but Invictas CEO has made it clear that Glycine will remain an an independent swiss made brand and he also has stated "no intention of disrupting the quality and long history that made Glycine the respected brand that it is today." I hope he keeps to his words. I have no problem buying glycine, I think they are stupendous watches with unbelievable value for money and I love their design language.
My Glycine GL0123 is supposed to have 25 jewels as described:
"Movement: Glycine GL224 25-jewel automatic"
and there are 26 jewels.
This means that there is Sellita SW200=GL224 (26 jewels) instead of ETA 2824-2 (25 jewels)?
RomanW" Aesthetically, the movements are identical and difficult to separate and the only significant difference is in the number of jewels. Sellita added a 26th jewel on the upper side of the barrel axis which sits just below the ratchet wheel. This jewel slightly reduces the friction associated with automatic winding. However, as the ETA movement has never had a problem of reliability in this regard, it is my view that this is most likely a marketing device used by Sellita to create some separation from the ETA movement although one could make a case for the small benefit in reliability the adjusted jewel height gives.Overall, however, the two movements are so identical in every aspect, it is difficult to have a meaningful discussion about the differences. An interesting perspective. CW uses sellita movements so take this with a grain of salt it may be in their best interest to not bash sellita.
Some more information:
" The long and short of this is Sellita makes a quality product and will run with ETA just fine for years to come. Yes, they are clones and made to substitute, but that shouldn’t cause anyone to think ETA movements are superior. The loving hands of the final watchmaker can prove to be very important when working with either of these two mechanisms, and how accurate they are when they get to your wrist. Happy Flipping. "

Yes, I must admit without Drop or Massdrop, I would probably never have had the chance to buy nice watches at very competitive prices; so I must give credit where credit is due. And without being able to access the community conversations I would have missed out on all the knowledge and opinions I have been able to absorb from you guys which has helped me obtain a small collection of quality watches at a very good discount ; and free entertainment along the way!! I am seriously looking at this watch; as it is also a "field "style which I don't currently have at present, and not having a dress watch or the need for one this would "kill two birds" as they say. Although my Freelancer and Breuer 43 currently double up as formal watches; but I do need to have a justification for this watch : just to keep "she who must be obeyed" happy!!
I've been saying this for a while in a lot of different drops but I'll say it again. Massdrop please post more accurate pictures. The color is not even close to accurate. Take the GLO123, it looks black, pure black, in the pictures posted when in fact it is a rich brown. And with the limited descriptions provided how is the normal consumer supposed to know? I have learned to check and double check on the manufactures websites for item descriptions.
Gunnersmate2Agreed! The brown is sold out already, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say there are going to be a lot of people disappointed with MDs return policies.
Gunnersmate2This was a similar situation last time I checked out the drop for the GL0122/0123
The GL0123 had similar black pictures and I went for the drop, only to realise hours later that it was brown, and canceled it. The numbers for Black dial (GL0122) got filled fairly quickly
Thankfully substantially more GL0122 units this time, but same color error in listing
CloacaYou make a great point. I do love the look of the moon phase, but I can't help but feeling like they should have just eliminated the Arabic numerals and just enlarged the indices a bit. I think that would have been a more refined and dressy option to separate itself from the Combat AM field watch line.
To reiterate, yes it has a Sapphire crystal on the front crystal, and Mineral on the display back. It also has the GL224 movement, which is an ETA 2824-2. It is hacking, as well as hand-winding, and feels very refined in my opinion. With these specs, at this price you really cannot go wrong.
I have had this for a little while now, and absolutely love it. I paid around $325 for it, so this is a great price for the quality you are getting. I have the black dial model (GL0122) that came on the olive strap. I wasn't crazy about the strap quality, and believe that a better quality NATO/Zulu strap would be in your best interest. It does have nice signed buckle that you could transfer onto a different two piece strap if you prefer. Attached is a recent photo on a milanese bracelet from my old Citizen, it looks AWESOME and gets a lot of compliments. The case has both brushed and polished areas, so it is versatile with strap hardware if you have both types. The case is fairly slim, so it sits nicely on the wrist, especially on this milanese bracelet.
If I had to nitpick, even on my ~7.25-7.5" wrist the 43mm is just a touch larger than I would have preferred. I usually stick with 40-42mm, however I think this is only because of the style of watch this as a diver, for instance, would wear smaller. The lume is good on the hands, but very dim on the hour markers unless it is well charged. I do like the hour and minute hands, but for some reason the second hand looks a touch out of place. It is hard to put my finger on, but I think it is just how much of a stark white it is against the black dial. On the flip side, legibility is great due to the contrast so you might love it. In my opinion, just a touch of grey would been a more suiting color.
All that being said, everything else about the watch is perfect. It has great style, and can be dressed up or down very easily. You can't go wrong for $279 for this one.
Big fan of the Stainless Bracelet GI0101--last time it dropped, I found it cheaper elsewhere, but this time MD's price is ten bucks less than I paid then (and ten bucks cheaper than Joma is asking today). In other words, this is a good buy. Here's mine...

Don't be frightened by the size. Here it is next to a Seiko SRB033...

Only two complaints I have with the watch are:
A) the hands are quite narrow and can be hard to pickup in low light and,
B) no Day complication, just the Date.
Otherwise, this is one of my TOP FIVE watches ;- )
