ynrozturkPeople justifying such an extreme cost for a set of keycaps must be new to the mech world. $120 for a set of ABS caps is ridiculous whether they are Dolch or not. You can get 2 or even 3 decent PBT sets for that price.
dingledongerIt's not that they're Dolch-themed, it's that they're GMK. That's why it specifically states GMK.
GMK ABS is superior to standard PBT. They acquired the original Cherry doubleshot molding tools. (http://deskthority.net/wiki/GMK)
While they still may seem a bit pricey, please understand that these are the best of the best. The only way you can compete with GMK is if you're BSP in terms of quality, but even then BSP is reserved for those who have $$$. With GMK you get a bit more bang for your buck.
Those who don't know who GMK is are pretty nascent to this very niche hobby, but no one has to buy this set if they don't want to.
dingledongerNo - You are the one who is obviously new to the MK world if you think that this is a high price for a GMK set. Just because you've bought a set of Vortex Doubleshot PBT's you think you are the be all and end all - you are very wrong.
You probably don't even know what Dolch is - considering that Dolch, as a colourway, is pretty much exclusively an ABS set because you can't dye sub PBT with a lighter legend.
Hell, you can stick to your "decent PBT sets" and we'll buy our overpriced ABS
dingledongerWhen you are talking about PBT sets with legends, we have:
1) Ducky with engraved legends
2) Vortex with fuzzy doubleshot legends
3) BSP with wonky keys and missing spacebar with IMSTO dyesub
4) Vortex/Gateron with IMSTO dyesub
5) DSA dyesub from SP
6) Tai-hao doubleshots with super thin PBT
None of these are even in the same league as GMKs. Whether GMKs are worth their prices, and whether PBT or ABS is superior, these are entirely up to the individual.
dingledongerLike I said, you must be new. It's okay if you don't know much about this stuff.
GMK is superior to PBT. You'd know this if you had a set. Quite obvious that you don't.
ynrozturkThats personal preference as its a type of plastic. Kinda like saying one Cherry MX switch type is better than another. I still prefer PBT to the touch but if you want ABS or its the only option (as in the GB) GMK is the best your going to get.
TheProfosistI've had PBT sets shine on me just after a year, whereas I've never had a GMK set shine on me. I prefer the feeling of PBT as well, but there are a lot of subpar PBT sets out there (like the Leopold set)
testrealmsShould I wait until you two are finished jerking each other off, or?...
I never said that it was definitive. I was merely sharing my 10+ years of mechanical keyboard/key caps experience. You don't have to listen to it.
ynrozturkYou don't have to wait, but it would be polite. Judging from your brashness, I doubt being polite comes easy to you.
Thanks for the permission to disregard your comments from now on. Luckily, I was already planning on it. :)
