These are the ORIGINAL silencing clips. And they are a fantastic deal for the price. They affect travel distance much less than 0-rings, which is the big benefit of using them. Recommended.
I was wondering if you know how they compare to Zealencios?
typing at speed, no real difference at all in performance.
Price wise, well, that makes GMK 's clips a no-brainer.
I can confirm there is no difference in performance between these and Zeal's offering. I'll probably do a whole review later but here is a photo comparison in case you're interested.
The Zealencios feel sturdier in general, but I think the extra bulk only makes them more difficult to install.
Zeal on right, GMK on left
What type of o-rings are you comparing these to? I only ask because I've found that they affect travel distance more than my WASD 40A-L rings. It's not super noticeable on OEM profile caps, but it doesn't feel that great on Cherry caps in my opinion.
I can't speak for @livingspeedbump, but I'll say that your photo above directly contradicts my much more subjective: the clips "feel like" they cause less travel reduction than the o-rings I got from this drop:
This could be due to the fact that I can't stand the particular kind of squish-bounce that o-rings cause. Perhaps I subconsiously shorten my stroke even more than the rings physically restrict travel to avoid that gummy compression upon bottoming out.
That ring looks pretty squished in your photo, is the difference as substantial if you stop adding pressure once you contact the ring?
To be sure, once you hit the clip, you aren't pushing that key down any farther!! O-rings will give quite a bit past contact if you are willing to subject yourself to the cringeworthy bounce back on upstroke.
The ring isn't really squished though. In the picture I'm only applying enough force to bottom out the cap on both of the switchs. I just retested it with a few different caps (OEM/Cherry, PBT/ABS, thick/thin walls) and the stopping points are more or less the same for each, with the travel being slightly more reduced for the clip in each trial.
The rings I used are pretty soft though, which is why I wanted to ask speedbump about what type they tried.
