When i ordered these i also purchased a set of O-rings on ebay for $1. I did this to compare the two, assuming that these brackets would yield a much better result. Well... i prefer the O-rings. I am using Cherry-MX Browns, and although the rings are softer (spongier?) they are also quieter. I am not saying that this product is worse than cheaper O-rings, they are of an obviously higher quality. However, it is worth considering that this may not be right for you.

Is the difference that big? I wouldnt like sponginess but if the noise reduction of the o-rings is that big...maybe worth it

It's hard to convey the difference without hearing and feeling it for yourself. The best advice I could give is to grab some cheap o-rings, just to try it. For only a dollar it doesn't matter if you hate it, but you will know exactly what it's like.
