This set has limited compatibility with 65/75% boards due to lack in variety of Home/PgUp/PgDn/End keys for R2-R4 rows. Sure, you can program the keyboard to make it work, but the most common 65% layout of R1 Del, R2 Home/End, R3 PgUp, R4 PgDn isn't supported. A regrettable pass for me.
A good amount of people also use R1 del, R2 pgup R3 pgdn and R4 fn for 65% as well.
I've no doubts about popularity of other layouts. My point is still valid, however: This set does not accommodate all 65%-75% layouts. Other GMK sets, especially recent ones like laser, fully covers with just the base kit.
This drop was targeted at getting the cheapest and as wide of a range of layouts as possible. Without being too concerned with correct legends, so long as correct profile can be achieved. The GB price was $99 and was aimed at people who wanted to try GMK but the barrier of entry was always too high and, of course, WoB lovers. Please tell me another GMK set at that price point with the compatibility of this kit. If you are going to bring up GMK Carbon R1, that kit achieved sub $100 at 1500 moq. I don't see any keyset SA/GMK/DSA/ XDA etc reaching 1500moq anytime soon at the current state of keycap saturation and GMK has steadily increased their prices.
The 65-75% keys of Home/PgUp/PgDn/End keys for R2-R4 rows that you want aren't even in any of the current running GBs, GMK Shoko and GMK Calm Depths or the upcoming GMK Jamon and GMK Bento. Not even the $170 Oco's WoB has it. I think as we reach keycap saturation, you will find many keycap designers design keysets with the bare essentials and stick legends on most commonly used layouts to keep prices relatively low.
Your comment about pricing is valid, but I am not arguing that so it is irrelevant to my sentiments.
I do recognize that not all sets cover all layouts in the base kit, and in those cases, I would buy into the extra kits to get the coverage I need. I only wish this particular set made those extra kits available.
Having extra sets for compatibility drives costs up. It’s very much so relevant to your sentiments, because at that point there may not be much more value for this particular drop versus a similar one elsewhere.
You're not in a position to state what's relevant to my sentiments . My original comment says nothing about costs. I would gladly pay more to have the extra caps that would accommodate my needs. To put in simpler words, I am not joining because it doesn't accommodate the layout I want. Regretfully so, because I would like to own the set. Shall we close this out now? :)
“I’m not in a position to state what’s relevant to your sentiments” jesus, this is conversation, no need to get defensive.
and yeah, you’re out of the drop bc of layout needs. You didn’t mention costs, but cost IS why your layout needs are not met. Therefore, it IS indeed relevant to why you’re not joining this drop.
Let's agree to disagree and move on.
