I don't use it anywhere near as much as I thought it would. Right now it is mounted under the cabinets in the kitchen, and I pretty much just use it to check the weather while I make breakfast. Sometimes I look at the pretty pictures as the slideshow changes... I'm not sure voice activated devices will be all that useful to me other than turning the lights on and off until the day I can just ask Jarvis to manufacture me a flying rocket suit with guns while I go to a party.

A Great Alarm Clock Replacement
Ended up on my bedside table, works great as an alarm clock, price was outstanding on Drop, and has some neat tricks up its sleeve. Great piece of tech.

Awesome and compact
It serves a lot of purposes. I keep it by my bed stand and it does well. Alarms, music, videos, home controls. Great buy.

Overall impression? A solid piece of kit for the “smart home” as offered by Google...
Having previously purchased several Google Nest’s to place throughout the home, this was a purchase to be centrally located in the kitchen, where it remains and is used throughout the day, daily. The functionality, in general, is mostly responsive enough to avoid the frustration of talking to a device that is unable to field questions and requests. In fact, my only complaints with the Google Home Hub are only related to the Google ecosystem in general, not necessarily just this device. I would recommend this product to anyone for use singly, but especially for those with other Google “smart” devices peppered throughout one’s residence.

A handy aid but not perfect.
I mostly use this to control my smart light bulbs, check the weather, and as a desk clock. I really like the adaptive lighting of the clock face. (doesn't keep me up at night like most "alarm clocks"). I used to keep it on top of my computer but I think the fans were interfering with the audio pickup. Now that I have moved it to the bedside table it picks up on my voice a lot better.

Did I get a refurb?
Something wrong with my particular unit... Right out of the box it seems to have connectivity issues. Most days it just shows a white screen with "cannot connect to the internet right now" --and actually it can, because I can cast to it while it's in this condition. I have several other Google home and Chromecast devices, none of which exhibit this issue. I bought it mostly as a clock + Google home for the living room, and it doesn't fulfill either function. I'm better off just putting the Google home mini I had there originally back.

It's a solid proof-of-concept, but falls far short of my expectations. For us, it's a Google Home with an attached oversized digital clock. I will keep it optimistically hoping they will add features enhancing its usefulness, but until there is a price decrease or significant feature enhancements, I don't recommend it and won't be purchasing more for our home. Buy a Google Home if you're looking at this instead and save the money for a later revision. Likes: Ambient display is spot-on. Google Assistant works with a display just like it does with the other speakers. Microphones are just as good as the Mini and Home. Dislikes: Radio alarm did not work for me. It will play the station and it will set an alarm, but it will not play the radio station as the alarm. Audio quality is meh. It's adequate for talk radio? I've got $20 Bluetooth speakers that sound WAY better. It should have a 3.5mm audio out jack. Won't load weather radar. When you ask it to show you the weather radar, it loads the Wikipedia article for "weather radar". I don't like that they charge to watch YouTube TV on a 7" display. If I'm working in the kitchen, I'd like to be able to temporarily watch the ballgame until I'm done and can move to a display where I can actually see it. I feel it should be included for free with the Home Hub. Why can't it be used to watch local OTA network television? A USB charging port (for other devices) would have been a nice inclusion. Connected home/IoT device connections are unreliable. Samsung SmartThings devices operate intermittently at best.
