I have a question. Does this amplifier support native dsd playback? And one more, this amp has two usb-b type power supplies. Do I have to connect them both to get enough power? Or can I connect only to my computer?
I am driving a HD600 with just one USB plugged into my computer. If you are going to use a power hungry headphone, you may be better served with two USB powered inputs.
It supports native DSD playback in the sense that the DAC will accept up to DSD256. However, the DAC will do internal conversion of DSD256 to PCM, since pretty much no DACs do DSD output with 1-bit + analogue filter anymore.
Also, you don't need to connect both leads, you can just connect one to your PC or phone. However, connecting both increases the voltage of the rail supplied to the amplifier and allows for greater current output.
The product description gives a breakdown of the power output in either configuration.
Option 1 with USB connection only from computer. Option 2 with USB connection from computer AND power supplied from Electricity mains via 2 nd USB input. Obviously Option 2 delivers more power to your headphones
I believe you have to use both micro usb ports to get it on "high power mode". IT uses low power (with the screen lights being lower to show it is using low power) with only the one cable plugged into the computer
