Well that's a question you only can answer. You'll have to figure out if for you this is a step up and if it is, are you willing to part with your O2 or it's just another DAC/Amp you can use in other situations. I own more than one DAC/Amps, some I use at work others I used for their balanced ability or to experience different house sounds.
I suppose a more accurate question for my situation would be what does the m9XX do (audibly) that the O2 doesn't? On paper we can rattle off all the technical differences but I'm more of a "proof in the pudding" person. I also realize that there are only a select few people who can directly answer that question but I'm curious as to the opinions of those who have a more experienced ear.
Maybe you could wait until they're dropped and delivered, you could reach out to local owners and audition it yourself? You could always buy and compare the m9xx and O2 directly, then sell the one you like least... Guess it depends on how much funds you have available to burn ;)
I will more than likely wait to hear reviews from those who end up purchasing it. Sadly I don't think I can justify this kind of expense right now (just got hit with a rather substantial health related bill). Hopefully there will be more drops of this in the future just as there have been multiple drops of the k7XX's.
Jeeze, why do some of my favorite things to do (photography and audio) cost so damn much! ;)
Well, at least it's cheaper than automobiles!
