Did anyone own the PS Audio Sprout? How is it compare to Grace m9XX. Is the Grace really worth the wait (don't know how long) I don't want to wait for another month or two to get a DAC Amp. http://www.psaudio.com/products/sprout/

Hi ptse, I've the PS Audio Sprout and every time I did an A/B test b/w the Sprout and the m9XX, I've a tendency to say, "Wow!" in my mind when I switched back to m9XX.
Without the m9XX to compare to, the Sprout is a fine piece of equipment to listen to. As in all things, the moment you experienced something better, you want the better experience all the time. And this human tendency is the basis for all "free trial" and "free sample" marketing strategy. Back to the m9XX, the music made you feel you are surrounded by it; whereas, in the Sprout, it was presented to you in the front row. I "feel" more of the music with the m9XX.
Ever since I got the m9XX, it has been the only equipment I plug my NobleAudio K10 into. The Sprout, unfortunately, is the new paper weight...

Well said. You should pass on your paper weights to others lest they gather dust and lose value (i.e. sell them). As soon as I plugged into one of these m9XXs, I immediately wanted to sell my previous DAC/Amp (DACport Slim; impressive in its own right). From a complete user experience-standpoint, the m9XX has spoiled me for the better, esp. that volume knob. Well done Grace Design & Massdrop!

"Back to the m9XX, the music made you feel you are surrounded by it..." I'm just wondering if you are attributing some of difference in sound between m9XX and Sprout to a crossfeed mode/circuit in the m9XX; the crossfeed is for headphone use and puts some of the left channel in the right ear and some of the right channel in the left ear to achieve a more natural stereo balance.

Hi FoxEars, I went to the m9XX setting to see if I had the crossfeed turned on. It is set to C F without the period as in C.F. I guess this mean crossfeed is not on. There is definitely a difference in ambiance with the m9XX reflecting a more substantial feel to it. This is probably why I feel surrounded by the music.
Do you have the same feel? While we have our own hearing perception; the important thing is that the level of appreciation is higher for every one listening to the m9XX despite the difference in how we hear the music.
Cheers!
