Named for the Lutsen Mountains in Granite Gear’s native Minnesota, this backpack is fully adjustable for a comfortable, customized fit, wherever adventure takes you. You can adjust the hip belt (from 28 to 40 inches) and the torso length, which varies based on the size you choose. Along with a DWR-coated nylon construction and the company’s Re-Fit air-current suspension system, the Lutsen is equipped with water-resistant zippers, plenty of pockets, and a hydration port and sleeve. The 35-liter pack has a panel-loading design with a wraparound front zipper for easy access to the contents inside, while the 45- and 55-liter packs have a traditional top-loading, roll-top closure with a floating lid to keep all your essentials handy.
Note: The Granite Gear Lutsen is available in the 35L (base price), 45L (+ $10), and 55L (+ $20) models. Colors include basalt, flint, and moss, while torso sizes include S/M and L/XL; availability for these varies by model.
During a paddling trip through Quetico Provincial Park in 1986, friends Jeff Knight and Dan Cruikshank decided the world needed better outdoor gear—and they wanted to have something to do with it. Not long after, Granite Gear was born. Today, it makes award-winning backpacks, stuff sacks, and other accessories for wilderness adventurers, travelers, students, and even soldiers in the field. The company takes its name from the toughness of its products, which have gained a cult-like following and proven their mettle in some of the world’s harshest environments, from Mount Everest to the North and South Poles.
