I purchased this pen several months ago on the last MD and it is one of the best pens I own. Actually, it's better than several pens I have that cost twice what this pen is going for. The craftsmanship is impecible on the body of the pen and the nib is excellent right out of the box. I disagree with the poster who said bog oak isn't a precious material. It is certainly as precious as petrified wood, which also commands a premium...and this bog oak has a great tactile feel and no imperfections. The guilloching (sp?) on the silver cap and section is the work of a master craftsman and very impressive. I am very satisfied with this Grifos pen and commend Mauricio and his family for making this work of art available at such a reasonable price.

mmg122Maurizio...sorry for misspelling your name. I should add that additional nibs in SS or gold are available on the Grifos website at very reasonable prices.

mmg122I have a question mmg122 - how well does the cap post? I have a very fancy Waterman pen and I hate it because the cap does not stay posted and can fly off at any time. I like to have the cap posted as I like how it feels when I write with it. Does the cap on this pen stay well posted? Is your pen the same pen as this one?

mmg122Hi Shihtzustaff...I don't routinely post my pens but since you asked...the cap posts very well and securely and the pen feels well balanced when posted. The bog oak is pretty strong and I don't think posting this pen will cause any blemiches or scratches. I have this exact pen. Highly recommend. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

mmg122Thank you. I have used mostly Waterman and a $30 Parker that got me through university. I loved that pen!

mmg122I know what you mean! I have an Esterbrook J that took me thru highschool, undergrad and grad school. Cost me $2. at a flea market. Great pen!
