Bought the pen, sprung extra for the gold nib. No doubt the pen itself is a beautiful pen, as advertised. I'm a little disappointed by how it writes. It skips quite a bit sometimes making it difficult to write an entire line without having to futz with it. It was a hard starter out of the box. I flushed it with water and flow has improved but it isn't where I would expect it to be. It seems to work just fine immediately after filling (and after flushing) ... then slowly returns to skipping. That tells me there is a flow problem somewhere from the converter to the nib. I'm going to try a wetter ink and see if that improves the flow.

I got one of the grifos pens as well, the pen and the city from a drop here a number of months ago. I was having g problems with the ink flow initially. I was trying to use their cartridges that came with the pen. They did now flow at all and made for an unpleasant experience. That said, once I switched to a converter cartridge, it flowed wonderfully and became a joy to use. Just a heads up to whoever purchases this pen in case it doesn't want to write well out of the box.

The cartridges are no problem. I have plenty of converters, and plenty of ink samples laying around. I just had that particular experience with mine.
MegaFighter_XOk. Thank you!
Hello, thank you to be the first to post on this our new pen. You are right this pen have 18 kt gold plated details. To be true a pen with a solid 18kt gold details nowaday would cost 4-5 time more (check this yourself). As you may see on your same link this same pen (but with rose gold plated details) in Europe cost roughtly 90 $ more and then you must add shipping to US and import duties. MD staff have made a great job sgreeding with us a great wholesale price for MD customers as you . I remain at your disposal! Best regards from Italy Maurizio

the accents on the Grifos Pompeii are plated, for those interested. https://grifos.pl/en/grifos-fountain-pens/10-grifos-pompeje-lite-srebro-925.html (unless that is the wrong product page?)

The washing must be done at least 2-3 time year if the pen is used. What you must do is leave the whole nib section in a glass full of lukewarm water added with a spoon of alchool for a night long period then wash it under the tip and try to write. If no positive result arrive do this again for one more night. If again the pen not write again you have to disassemble the nib and the feeder (the black plastic "tongue" under the nib)  from the point section. Proceed as follow: Before  taking away the nib please look at the nib back and remember the nib position according to the black nib feeder (you may take a picture). Keep the finger grip section screw on to the pen barrel to have the best grip while changing nibs. To change a nib please use a piece of cotton cloth or a bicycle rubber ( or rubber gloves like the ones used to wash dishes) to get a perfect grip of the nib when you pull it out and push it down. 1. To take away the nib, hold it tight with the piece of rubber and pull it out moving it slightly right and left. After this leave these three parts (nib, feeder and point section) in water and alchool glass again one night and then reassemble them. 2. To reassemble the parts start from the feeder, it fits easily inside the holder turning it right or left till you find the feeder's nest, you will hear a click and feel the feeder slides inside. 3. Take the nib and lean it against the feeder to understand the future nib position. Insert the bottom of the nib between the feeder and the holder and push it down much enough to make it slide inside the holder (use a cotton cloth or rubber), continue pushing it down (without rotate them anymore) till you see and feel the nib is enough inside the holder (it doesn't slide inside more). All is done now and the pen will write again. Let me know if all will be fixed or no so we could help you again in the chance. Best regards Maurizio
