If you’re in the market for a durable, straightforward belt that won’t fail, you’ve come to the right place. Made by GRIP6, these factory second low-profile EDC belts are lightweight, comfortable, and tough as nails Read More
I have the carbon fiber version and it works really well to stay tight throughout the day. Never once do I have to retighten them unless I'm taking them off at home or when I have to poop. :) They recommend getting whatever size pants you wear, for example I bought size 34 as I have size 34 Levi's jeans and the extra portion will overlap a bit past the first belt loop. Note that the Grip6a belt works opposite of a normal belt, where you tuck the tongue behind the backside of the buckle and continue to tighten it behind the belt instead of on top of the belt.
Awesome, do you mean the strap on the rear side? I do notice that the strap will slightly scrunch up at the back since I tend to sit or lean on it throughout the day. The rest of the belt stays straight for me.
Do the Grip6 buckles hold well? I've had other infinite adjustable slide buckles and they all seem to work loose after wearing for an hour or so, less when you're moving a lot, so they seem to require very frequent re-tightening.... Are Grip6 buckles better or worse than that?
Massdrop is no longer massdrop. It's simply an amazon wannabe that makes you wait a long time for your order and sometimes does some good collaborations. Finding that I'm coming less and less because i see no reason to except for the collaborations. If it's not a collaboration you can likely find the same product elsewhere for the same or similar pricing with a much shorter wait. Take it for what its worth
RussBAnd they even changed the name to reflect the fact they're no longer "mass" anything. They're just a distributor of old products unless they collaborated with some product.
They should call themelves collaborationdrop or something. "Drop" is just insulting.
actually easy to put on, despite what it looks like
very easy to remove obviously
Does hold very, very well. I can hang axes around the belt if i want it wont slip at all
If you get the carbon buckle you don't need to remove your belt at the TSA and other scanners obviously, its kinda cool
Cons
A little expensive for what it is, albeit, for a gadget, its not so bad
The nylon takes a beating (abrasion), I suspect that worn daily you probably want to change it after 2y. Traditional rugged designs last me more like 10y (but they're also heavier, bulkier)
A little bit of a shape forms in the nylon over time where you most often tighten it. not a huge deal at all, just something to know about
I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for a simple, low bulk, light, yet reliable belt.
Someone else further in the comments actually posted a youtube video showing how to put it on, and then it made a ton of sense. I actually went on their webpage and ordered it directly with a 15% off code so it should be here maybe tomorrow. I really want the CF but $75 just for that is a bit steep.
Thanks for the photo though!
its not made for it but it will support a gun.
i wouldnt do it because its not convenient as you have a weight while you try to tighten it (you have to put your hand "under"/"inside" the belt instead of just pulling like a regular belt), which on this type of buckle is annoying. but it'd hold.. heck i just tried lol.
note: ive a recent model / strong webbing / thin carbon buckle
Sorry to hijack this thread for a moment, but I’ve been desperately looking for a dual rivet hole ALL LEATHER, FUNCTIONAL, not fashion, belt to replace the one that has lasted me 15 to 20 years. Any ideas? Even via massdrop? This is one thing that I’ve been unable to find ANYWHERE else, I’ll even gladly pay MassDrop’s silly prices for once to get one! :-)
Those look like terrific belts, but Hanks doesn’t do brass hardware, nor do they have grommets in the holes. I haven’t yet sussed out Orion’s options. I bought the etsy one, so we’ll see.... Hide and watch, as Aunt Pearl would say, hide and watch. :-)
I have questions.
This is a nylon belt for $30 and only five dollars off the normal price for a factory second? Why is it a second is kind of important.
How does it clasp? It is not obvious to me and not mentioned in the description.
If it is "infinitely adjustable", why is it offered in so many sizes? Just so you do not have to trim?
ponagathosGRIP6 has video that shows off how it works pretty well. No reason you can't trim the belt to size. One end is flattened into a T shape and the other end can be trimmed however you want.
