I tried getting a shell cordovan nato watch strap off etsy, the the leather was only 1.2 mm thick (3-4 oz leather). It was so thin I was worried about the latch holes ripping over the next few months. I returned it for a Tanner Goods strap which was a full 2 mm thick (upper bounds of 4-5 oz leather). Moral of the story: The thickness (weight) of the leather used is very important, and anything 1.5mm and below is going to feel incredibly flimsy and cheap. I would inquire about the weight of the leather used in these.
timegrownoldThe important thing to remember is leather thickness is not always indicative of overall quality of the leather. Some of the nicest leathers around are also the thinnest.
To answer your question, these are going to be between 3 - 5 oz in thickness depending on where from the shell the strap is cut from. Though you won't have wild variances like that in a single strap. I've had no issues with watch faces sliding around or holes ripping in the multiple months of testing I've done on these. In the highly unlikely event that they would rip, feel free to shoot me an email and I'll take care of you.
