Is there an benefit to using these glasses over using software like f.lux or redshift?

I don't have these per se, but my glasses anti-glare coating filters blue light and has a yellow tint very close to the gunnars. The adjustment to f.lux was much harsher than wearing my glasses. I had stronger headaches and more sleep disruption with f.lux. I think it was because I compensated the color discrepancy by turning the brightness up vs keeping brightness and contrast normal and wearing the glasses.

I think the eyes are able to better adjust for the altered colors when completely covered by glasses than partially altered by changing the hue of the monitor. All in all, glasses are the more ideal solution, so it is more of a cost concern.

More Luxottica. Look up hostile take-over and monopoly and you'll find this company.
The original global monopoly that just keeps getting stronger every year through predatory practices and aggressive and deceptive marketing.
They now own not only virtually all eye-wear, they also own all the department store brands too, and the places that prescribe you glasses in the first place. The reason eyeglasses are so expensive, is because of this company.

I know what you are thinking, don't just tell me about a BIG problem, give me solutions, alternatives. Ok, try this: - Don't but from any Luxottica products or brands for one year. Make 2018 the year the world freed itself from this monopoly. - Buy from their competitors, such as:

I don't think Maui Jim are owned by Luxottica either, fortunate because they are absolutely the best polarised lens around.

I used to wear Revos and they had a fantastic warranty. I went to deal with an issue after the take over and they said no. So no more Revos for me.

My package arrived today... and I needed to pay 28 euro extra for customs!! This is insane... if I had known this, I would've been much better off ordering through a normal website. At least now I know not to use Massdrop anymore

At least you know now to use your brain a little more dude ...
It's ridiculous when people act surprised about THEIR COUNTRIES import/customs regulations and then BLAME MASSDROP for it. Support TTIP if you think this is stupid.

You should know your import laws before ordering. Do not blame others for your own mistakes.

What about blue light from florescent lights when you're not looking at a screen? Don't get snarky, these aren't just for screens my man.

This "bad blue light theory" is completely unsupported by science, so don't buy these based on that.

Hello! As a user of a free alternative to these glasses: the program f.lux, I can tell you that regardless if the science behind this is BS or not, reducing the blue light of the monitor if you spend almost any time in front of the computer feels real nice to your eyes. Try it out for your own sake (why not, right? It's free: justgetflux.com)

Programs are good, but I do desktop support and stare at many different monitors that don't have any blue light protection installed. Glasses like these work great in cases like this

I left a poor review on Gunnar's site for their cyphers. I didn't say anything profane, but it was taken down presumably because it wasn't 4 or 5 stars.
Nice.

Well, I've started with step 1. Just reinstalling f.lux. And that's already a huge improvement. Probably going to get the crystalline glasses tomorrow, but I'm going to sleep on it first.

Customise f.lux. It is only annoying when you don't use its features

Why wouldn't you just download f.lux? It does the same thing that gunnars do. I would recommend you trying it out Before purchasing gunnars. You may not like the color changes

As I briefly mentioned, there are alternatives. Search Amazon for 'gamma ray glasses'. Can't speak for the build-quality on those but the pair of Gunnars I've owned and used almost daily for 5 years have held up just fine.

Also, the lenses decrease the amount of convection around your eyes so they don't dry out as quickly

A word of caution: My Intercept frames broke at the bottom-right corner after using them for just under six months.
EDIT: I worked with Gunnar support, MassDrop support has a warranty of thirty days, but Gunnar's warranty goes for an entire year -- so mine were entirely covered, and I received a free replacement after sending them in! :D
Thanks a bunch to @Jaysun and Gunnar. I was upset to have this happen, but I'm impressed with the support and warranty :) gives me hope in humanity!
