The price in China is $1680 yuan = ~ $270 based on current exchange rate. If we can get it at $299+$11.49 shipped to the U.S., I think it's a fair deal because shipping would probably cost as much as the price difference if not more. Let alone the fact that you can deal with Massdrop if you receive a defective unit rather than sending it back to China which I am sure would be costly. I am curious about the warranty though. I couldn't find any information about the company that made this amp so I searched for Gustard in Chinese (in which I am fluent) and was able to find quite a bit of information on their DACs and AMPs but still no info on the company itself, no website, nothing! So, who do we contact for warranty service?
You can contact Massdrop support. If there are any manufacturer defects or problems, they'll have you straightened out in a hurry.
I've got an Audio-GD dac/amp, and while it's nice and the warranty/guarantee is rather generous, it sure isn't cheap to send it through anything but USPS. I was looking at $100(Fedex, UPS, DHL(which they used originally to send it)) which wasn't worth it considering that was a bit less than half the unit cost, and while nice of them, Audio-GD only refunds about $35(original cost of shipping during purchase) if I recall correctly. I sent it through USPS for around $27 of which I never got back because it never actually made it there(not as bad as $100 though). I'm glad I got it back though, and while the USB is still iffy, at least the toslink works fine. I honestly don't think I'll ever buy a Chinese product again like that. They may have reputable companies, and quality products, but the cost to send it back is too much for me....though as you said if Massdrop helps out then it's probably a lot less of a pain.
