For those who thought this was a fluke and a minor issue (@jakenewman), here's a little walk down memory lane...

RayFWOW I cant believe that. I will be the first to admit I make mistakes when learning new material. However, this is not new... this is making the same mistake over and over. This is simplynot doing the one thing you have to do when promoting any item for sale... and that is promote that item ACCURATELY. All these mistakes above equate to maybe 24 hours total (if you are really detailed) of research to get things right. If I made this same type of error, every day, I would be out of work in my position. New or not, transition or not... OUT. I will be super interested to see the next watch post on Drop and how accurate it is... Also, anyone who disagrees with being called/calling others out for making mistakes probably makes a lot of mistakes themselves and should not be trusted in my opinion. This is how we improve... or in Drops case, watch potential revenue fly out the window.

russsertYou make a good point, that in any other business repeated errors simply wouldn't be tolerated--certainly not in a business you owned and your family depended on, but there is something else going on here too. Notice that these errors don't seem to occur in other classifications; not in Audiophile Equipment (arguably as, or more complex and detail oriented than Watches) and not in Knives, with this sort of frequency--if at all. The person presently in charge of Watches has a background in apparel (socks and kid's clothing) and to some extent accessories, but no background at all (so far as I can discern), in watches. Still, I don't see that as an excuse or frankly, the true cause of the problem. If MD wanted more expertise in Watches, they could easily find it. The fact that they haven't is (to me anyway) a further indication of "issues a foot", and probably not good news for those of us who are fans and supporters. I am now convinced the radical changes we witnessed around April/May of last year (name change, site redesign, mass layoffs) were the result of an ultimatum from the principal investors who collectively dumped an additional $75M into MD's Series C funding, shortly before those changes occurred. You can read more about that here: https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/massdrop-evolves-brand-to-become-drop-launches-new-user-experience-to-enable-passions-and-products-300839436.html Series C funding, according to one site "...generally occurs to make the startup appealing for acquisition or to support a public offering." I interpret all of that to mean those involved are ready to cash out and move on to other interests and opportunities, and not that Drop is planing an IPO. How investors at that level (folks like Cowboy Ventures, August Capital, Mayfield Fund to name a few) would view the problems noted above is anyone's guess. I'm not even sure Watches will continue to remain a category and community at this point. Drop claims to be more interested in developing their own (Drop branded) products, rather than selling other companies products. My guess is that they'll leave the problems we're discussing (and the fixes required to solve them), to the new owners!

RayFI had no idea about any of this. Very interesting and a bit disappointing. I hope that is not the case though to be honest, I do like a couple of the MD collaboration watches (like the Felix one is actually pretty cool). I suppose only time will tell at this point.
