I'm not sure what to make of your post. One, the other items you mentioned have nothing to do with this drop, and two, some items do sell for MSRP on Amazon. If your point is that no one should ever expect to see MSRP as an actual price for watches, then I sort of get that. It's defiantly true for almost every watch that shows up on Massdrop. The MSRP listed at this website are almost never the actual retail price anywhere else.

Well, Amazon IS selling this at the same price as here. My point was that I thought there would be a price advantage to the drops sold here, but in many of them, that's not the case.

You are a more into horology than I. I had a Hamilton Railway Special when I worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad in the 1970's and have wanted one since then. Thank you for your reply.

Charlie2Now those are a different kettle of fish altogether. Plenty of them out there; the 992 enjoyed a long history. These..."railroad" is basically just a style term. Nothing American about them, nor do they even nod in passing to the railroad standards in terms of visuals. Or probably accuracy...but I can't find anything about the grade for these. A standard-grade 2824 is just OK. But Hamilton has no chronometers in production any more; they're Swatch's lowest-level "standard" offerings with normal mechanical movements. If you want a real Hamilton railroad watch...I like to look at the offerings from Northern Partners. Large collection of vintage, true railroad standard pocket watches. Almost decided to pull the trigger on one, and may yet do so.
