The only concern I have is will this clear resin turn yellow if exposed to sunlight over time? I know there are some resin where if there is no UV protection added to the mixture it will yellow out over time.

rowieShit, at $70, they're cheap enough to buy 5 or so, and keep in a dark place for when they discolor or get scratched. You don't even need to remove it from your keyboard. Just throw the whole damn thing out and put it on a brand new one because why the fuck not, you're spending more on space bars than most Americans spend on a tank of gas.

rowieThe other artisan carbon caps they produced last time had the same clear top, and I've yet to see anyone post about discoloration. Though I'm sure most people don't leave this out in sunlight for extended periods, seeing as PCs are indoor appliances.

CyphreThat's good to know. I just wonder since all the rooms in my house gets lots of sunlight during the day. I am pretty good about covering my keyboards when not in use during the day. I just often wonder the sensitivity of the piece since I'd love it to stay clear as personal aesthetic preference. I'm also curious whether or not Hammer uses some kind of UV protection in the mixture of his resin.

rowieTotally hear you. As you said, you cover them sometimes. I also cover mine using just a simple little cloth cover with a design on it. Keeps dust and whatever nasty stuff from destroying my precious I mean keyboard.

BrainFlush@rowie @BrainFlush Hammer response and I quote: "I will add antioxidants, this process will be slowed down.but It will still be oxidized, this is the law of nature. Every cap is. And of this spacebar, the base color is beige, and I will also make the top layer in the similar color, iz not completely colorless. thx for asking "
I presume this is the UV protection we are talking about? I am not sure if you could fully UV protect resin as I am not informed on the topic..

CakirramaThanks for asking! Well I'm happy Hammer will add antioxidants into the mixture to slow down the yellowing at the very least. Resin is a very difficult substance to work with if you are trying to preserve the clear color. I think what makes it difficult for these makers is that there are so many kinds of chemicals and methods to choose from towards "non-yellowing effect."
It's mostly trial and error for the artist for what to choose before they can claim that their piece won't yellow out (if the artist has already tested out different resin brands, found a method through chemistry, chemical methods....etc). In this case now I know I'll have to give this piece extra care and save it for special occasions for when friends visits, keyboard pics for setups etc). Again, it's good to know that Hammer will add additional Chemicals into his mixture to slow down the yellowing process. Hope the beige will match that future change well into a vintage look.....

BrainFlushGlad to know I'm not alone. Covering my keyboards is essential since none of the windows in my house have shades, blinds, or even curtains (we love openness and brightness). definitely agree with dust and protection from other elements.

rowieThanks for the link.
As much as I like the key cap, I wont be doing any of the aforementioned covering of keyboards and what not. I guess time will tell what the keycap will look like :-)
