Now in its sixth round, CRP from HammerWorks is less of a keycap set and more of an institution. That’s due in large part to its massive selection of kits, which has only gotten bigger here in Round 6 Read More
I'm seeing the thickness as 1.8mm this time around, which is a lot thicker than previous rounds. Not too sure I am happy about that, so I just wanted to confirm if that was accurate. Maybe new blanks are being used, but the old thickness sounded very good as it was.
jafnvaegiThanks for the heads up! Just located the post. I already do own a GMK beige set so while I do like it I already kind of feel like this CRP one is a bit unnecessary now as it's no longer its own thing. I'm not sure why they don't just stick with R4. What about the people who want R4's colors, are they never making them again? Kind of disappointing to me to be honest but probably not a big deal for those that don't have a GMK beige set I suppose.
fresh1024I totally understand that perspective. I think people were mostly disappointed that R5 was a cooler tone from R4 and can't really be mixed (same case as now) but my perspective is it's just a different takes on beige for more variety. R6 however with it being very close to the GMK color codes, you can now mix in GMK keys (ex. Beige Addon Kits or Relegendables) with it being more seamless, like found on some vintage Cherry boards. DrClick (Hammer) is a big fan of recreating vintage layouts and recapturing the OG style & quality of original Cherry PBT dyesub - to me this is a welcome change as it's now realized. GMK ABS and CRP PBT respectively have a different feel/sound between them, so that's why you may want one or the other (or both).
According to CRP's Instagram (hamm3rclub) the grey they will be using for the standard set modifiers for R6 are very close to GMK's U9 so check out real photos of the sets GMK Classic Beige or GMK Hineybeige if you want a real world comparison. It's entirely possible they use a different modifier grey than GMK's U9 for the Xerox 6001 set, however.
White Xerox hasn't been previewed/listed so it's not likely, unknown about future rounds of course but the current one is closer to the original 6001 typewriter. Unlike with prior rounds where different kits were available from other vendors that couldn't be acquired from Drop, that doesn't appear to be the case with Round 6 after looking at all the other vendors.
