I think if this product had a battery built in it would be much improved, instead of having to carry a battery pack you could just plug right to your keyboard
This question has been asked quite a few times. Our previous version of the adapter, BT-400, does have a battery inside. The problem is that this battery also needs to supply current to the keyboard which takes a very wide range of power (think about LED back-lit keyboards). A fixed-capacity battery does not fit all different use scenarios. So we opt not to include a battery in this new version, and let users select a battery bank of their choice if they need portability, or plug the adapter into a USB wall adapter.
What if you used a rather large battery enclosed with the Bluetooth? Something large enough for worst case scenario power users
Then you would end up with a much bulkier and more expensive product. Also it is hard to do USB-USB bridging with that large form factor (which we believe is a super useful feature). Again, not having a built-in battery is not a show stopper. You can use a battery bank. It is just a bit less convenient, but you have the flexibility to choose a battery bank of the right shape and capacity.
Ok then that’s pretty understandable. Thank you for replying to my comments, I am glad to see a developer supporting their work so much
Also is the bluetooth adapter that you’re selling on your website the same as this one on Massdrop? I would like to just by one now and not have to wait two months for it to arrive.
Yes the adapter is exactly the same. The packaging could be different especially to international buyers so as to reduce shipping cost.
