Product Description
The Happy Hacking Keyboard has played a prominent role in the mech keys community since its release in 2006. It could be because of its compact form factor, the ergonomic cylindrical step chassis, or the smooth Topre electrostatic capacitive switches; or maybe it’s a combination of it all Read More
Just an observation here.
If there were over 4000+ requests for this keyboard over the years, why are we stuck at only 10 keyboards sold thus far?
Thought that by now, it would be at least 600 sold.
Typical bullshit artists making requests for stuff they never intended to buy at all.
ElrickI think the other comments nail it. There is a refresh right around the corner and this is more expensive here than on Amazon right now ($208 with two day prime delivery). The extra spacebars aren't really going to convince many people to spend over 200 bucks on this when the new version comes out in a few months at the same price. MD and HHKB could have (should have) put something together way before now...
That's fair, I feel the same with Cherry mx switches and all the clones, they just feel boring and no different from the expensive HPs, Zeal ones, Gateron Inks etc to cheap ones that come with $50 Chinese boards. Lube does a little to make them smoother but not worth the price of effort, linears are ok but tactiles are just cheap feeling compared to Topre. But not much they can do with such a cheap mechanical mx design, tiny spring and leaf with cheap housing.
From my experience, 205g0 doesn't play well with Topre. Too sticky for this particular switch. Give Tribosys 3204 a try if you still have the board. Putting on silencing rings helps tremendously too. Probably more so than even lubing.

This isn't a new product, and it is not a great discount. You can buy this through Amazon for a better cost (it's been under $220 since September, brand new) and get faster shipping and better support. The more Massdrop acts like a generic storefront, the less it works.
H2Whoahfyi to anyone reading this -- EVERYONE AND THEIR MOTHER is selling an HHKB on reddit.com/r/mechmarket. Yeah, they're secondhand, but buying off what essentially is keyboard craigslist saves you a lot of money. Most stock HHKB's sell there for $150-200. Go save some money guys.
So basically, this is a $229.99 drop for some HHKB spacebars. You can get this board on Amazon right now by Saturday for the same price. Thanks, no thanks.
JimDetroitPretty much. It's not a rare thing to get. I know that finding keycaps for HHKB can be tough sometimes but they're not impossible so this isn't really a deal in any way.
Don't balk at this price, the HHKB is worth every penny. No Cherry switch comes close to Topre. I've had my HHKB for over 3 years now and absolutely love it. It even has hardware toggles for Mac/Windows mode so that media keys work correctly.
shadowhandI do use one every day, can say that it is without a doubt my favorite stock keyboard. All in all fantastic board. Seems spendy at first, but considering how many hours of use my HHKBs get, totally worth it.
