Anyone know if the batteries are just 18650?

xformulaxThe batteries are slightly taller than a normal 18650 battery as they have a chip attached to the bottom, I am both a current owner of the Haze 2.5 and manage a vape shop where we carry a variety of 18650 batteries, none of them will work as they are slightly to short.

xformulaxHey @xformulax ,
The Haze batteries are slightly taller than regular 18650's but luckily the unit comes with two batteries and more can purchased from the manufacturers website if need be.

csheltonThanks for the info, are they similar chemistry and voltage? I wonder if that's a protection circuit, one could easily attach a "2 cent fuse".

Jaysun"This product contains 2 Haze Lithium-ion Rechargeable Batteries. (2600mAh Li-ion 18650 3.7V) Only recommended for use with Haze Vaporizer and Haze Wall Charger. - See more at: http://www.hazevaporizers.com/haze-vaporizerbrechargeable-battery.html#sthash.WI50usbF.dpuf"
They also sell higher mah batteries as the Haze XL, which i suppose could be taller with a prot circuit. I see no reason why any 18650 can't be used, you may need a fuse to make your battery longer/safer... but assuming it's a spring loaded battery door, there shouldn't be an issue with 2mm or so difference.

xformulaxYo @xformulax ,
So I popped a Sony Vtc5 18650 in and there actually was way to much room to make a solid connection even with the spring loaded door.

JaysunThanks for trying, and for the information. I may try and find a Haze local and use some of my 18650 with a 2 cent fuse and report back. I think many more in the ecig community would be interested if it worked with the 18650's they already have, I've got a few really good chargers and 20 or so cells.
The 2 included batteries are probably fine, but I prefer to know my battery chemistry and limits, and it's nice knowing I wouldn't have to depend on the company some time down the road. One of the few things that makes me never want to buy a S&B mighty/crafty... If they had user serviceable 18650 i'd buy one at retail today.

xformulaxHey @xformulax,
Yes, I think you are correct about the community but I feel a little different about products with internal or proprietary batteries.
I believe that quality companies who know what they are doing provide batteries with their products because that really is the only way to ensure proper functioning of the device. The amount of poor quality batteries out there combined with poor end-user education makes for a very short product life expectancy.
If you do find that the 2cent 18650 combination works with the Haze 2.5 please let us know.
Thanks for sharing with the community,
JaySun

xformulaxI think it is, you would need a way to attach it, they use a clear plastic wrap. I personally will just buy their xl batteries so I know I'll have no issues. Use a Luc v4 and the batteries charge in 30mins but having 4 is always better than 2
