Interesting. Would love to hear thoughts from people who've listened to these before.

inPractikLI bought a pair of these a year or two ago for the full price of $30 from Penon Audio in Hong Kong. I use them occasionally when I want ultra-portable or a change of pace, but I do most of my listening with over-the-ear phones that are much more satisfying. I'm not an IEM person, so my only basis for comparison is the cheapy buds that come with lower-end A/V equipment. I just did a quick A-B with the HE 150PROs and a pair of cheapo Sansa earbuds, plugged directly into my FiiO X3 2nd gen player. I went back and forth a few times on a couple of different FLAC songs, and the immediate and obvious difference was that the HE 150PROs were smoother, cleaner, and more sophisticated than the crude but effective Sansas. By the way, my buds go naked; I don't bother with the foam pieces. The FiiO (and my tablet) can drive these 150 ohm buds with little trouble, but they are more power hungry. With the FiiO set to high gain output, music that worked at volume level 36 for the Sansas required an increase to 56 to get a similar impact from the HE buds. As with any quality headphones/earphones, these definitely benefit from a dedicated amplifier. My Schiit Magni 3 really makes them sit up and talk. Yes, the sound stage is awesome. And yes, the bass is there, but of course it will never match the fullness of a 50 mm circumaural driver. If you want to shake things up and enjoy music in a different way than over-the-ear gear, these are totally worth the very reasonable $22. I have no regrets with my pair. Mine came with a nice circular zipper carrying case, comparable in size and shape to a hockey puck, while it looks like the Massdrop version comes with a rectangular case.
