BuckbrickI admire you D: Quick question, what do you get out off an IEM portable AMP just like the one you have when your earphones doesn't even need enough power efficiency to drive them from the first place? Sure it might make it sound louder, but what about the sound quality? I realized how my songs sounds terrible with my old phones (Galaxy S5) with outdated DAC even with an amplifier.

KITTYIt sounds like you can do with a good DAC/amp for the S5. Or get a DAP. I'm using an iPhone and sure, it can drive some of my headphones and the Monk+ and sounds pretty decent. The Pico slim is actually for my Xbox. It does sound fantastic with the iPhone though.

BuckbrickI see, that's pretty unique and neat! I don't think i'll be needing an portable AMP since most of IEM/headphones I take out with are low impedance. I just never understood the marketing for portable AMPs especially designed for IEMs (since they necessarily don't even need extra power to drive them to its full potential) when your DAC isn't up to par. DAP is a good investment, not only it can run many different types of IEM/headphones with high or low ohms, but especially with good sound quality. I don't get what you really get out from portable AMP products specifically designed for IEMs.. :/

KITTYI thought that as well. I tend to do most of my listening on the go, so I usually listen straight out of my iphone or a DAP. I usually just have the device in my front pants pocket so stacking a DAC/Amp is out of the question. But then I demoed the CustomArt Ei.xx & Harmony 8.2. Although these sounded great straight from the source, plugging them into a O2 Amp just elevated the experience. I now carry my previously-collecting-dust Fiio E17 in my backpack during my subway commute for those times I really want to enjoy my music & am now in the market for a new portable DAC/Amp. My current daily IEM is the CA Jupiter. My previous set was the Pinnacle P1, but these are harder to drive & would definitely benefit from some amping.

BuckbrickWhat cable is that you're using to connect the pico slim to the controller? (Trying to find a good tiny cable is proving to be a pain the the butt.)
KITTYIt's not necessarily about "extra power" with IEMs, it's about bypassing the usually fairly subpar built in amplifier and taking the line out and using a better amplifier. Better amplification isn't necessarily about more volume, it's about deeper bass, better soundstage, and more linear response.

EdipisReksTechnically speaking, that "extra power" is boosting up deeper bass, better sound-stage, and more linear response, and volume.... but the sound is still terrible with a low-end DAC. Don't get me wrong, I agree with you and I understand your point, but that wasn't my case. I prefer the sound on my IEMs with no AMP with a better DAC than having an AMP with a terrible DAC.
