Named after the home of the British Grand Prix, the Silverstone Watch from Helgray takes some obvious cues from the world of racing. The dial, which is available in a variety of bold colors, features an outer chapter ring marked in intervals of five and lumed hands and markers for legibility in the dark Read More
I own another watch from this company. The minute-hand fell off without any bumps or tare at all and the customer support is non-existing. Stay away from Helgray, they are scammers!
@Nadim Received my Green Silverstone 2 days ago. I wanted this one since the Kickstarter as it looks amazing. Mine has the second hand misaligned, which is no big deal as many watches have that too as it's something that takes effect after manufacturing. But what makes me never want to wear this watch neither post any Instagram Photos of it as I intended to is that the Dial is totally off centered. 12 o' clock is at 86° instead of 90° which makes mine look like a 50 dollar watch. What can I do about that? I'm in Europe which makes this even more complicated.
Thanks for the replies regarding my question. I appreciate it.
I have a pretty extensive watch collection, including several chronographs. All of them have a running seconds hand, either small or full dial. I'm also almost positive this is the way this watch is supposed to be. However, in this regard it's different from any other chronograph I've ever owned.
There was no owner's manual included. And the company has ignored my request for information. It's been about ten days now...which is quite unprofessional and "low class."
But I really like the watch. Also, without the running seconds hand it's impossible to set it to atomic time. Based on the minute hand, however, it appears to be very accurate.
I'm not sure if anyone is still checking this thread at the moment, because the "drop" has ended, for now. Apparently, Helgray's customer service is pretty much worthless. I contacted them eight or so days ago with a question and they have not responded.
I can't tell if there is a problem with the watch I received from Massdrop, which I like very much, but am not sure if there is something wrong with the seconds hand movement.
Is the large seconds hand supposed to move constantly, along with the time, like nearly all quartz watches? I realize this model is part quartz and part mechanical, but the only time the seconds hand moves is when I begin the timer. It stops after one hour, until started again.
Can someone please let me know? Thanks.
Ehh. I like them, if the face is more on the muted side. I posted a pic of my timex Waterbury in wrist check, and that's as busy as I'd want my chronographs.
AvionNDVRAnd another reason is that I like automatics, not quartz, and chronograph features tend to increase the price 500 percent in an automatic because there's more stuff jammed into the same sized space. And the stuff is smaller and thus more delicate and prone to problems.
Looks like the watch is on the way but I don't get why massdrop chose FedEx Smartpost. Smartpost always takes extra 1 days compared to UPS Surepost if the original scheduled delivery day is Tuesday. If it's Tuesday then the package won't move on Monday, transfer to USPS for delivery on Tuesday and be delivered on Wednesday. At least I can upgrade shipping on my end with UPS Surepost.
I just received my watch from last drop, however none of the chronograph functions work. When I press on the 2 o'clock button, the red hand does not move at all. But the normal watch function works without any issue. Have I received a faulty watch, guys?
MaoguaIt's possible but very unlikely, especially if the rest is working.
Are you sure you are pressing hard enough on the button? Being a mecaquartz movement, the buttons act like the buttons on a mechanical watch. You need to press relatively hard and feel a firm 'click'.
If it's still not working shoot me an email at nadim@helgray.com and I'll get you sorted out. Thanks!
NadimYou are absolutely right Nadim, it does require quite a firm press on the buttons to get it going. It feels like there is a bump before the actual click. I'm so happy that I don't need to go through the replacement process. I love the watch and the green watch face is so nice. Too bad that the red hand does not align well on mine too.
I was going to join the drop for the green dial with the brown strap, but somehow with 1 purchase they are already sold out of all the brown straps. I would join if the green dial with brown strap was available.
