HFM continues to produce meh cans like the HE560, Sundara, HE5se - cheaper to make than the HE-500. The HEX v2 (discontinued) and MD XX are fine cans, but not the same. If you do it, please change the rear screen to be like the Sundara, and add the fuzzor mod, and update the headband, and use a good cable.

Guys. Bump this great can up guys. I love hifiman and I am hopeless to find this can even used and old. So why not help each other to own this great can probably the greatest.

HE-500, better than 560 (either version), the Sundara (closer), and beats the tar out of the LCD-2 (any version). HFM is closing out the 560 v2 ($299), and has the 400 variants at ($170-230), Sundara (already price cut to $400-450), but nothing between that and the new Ananda at $999. A MD release of a HE-5XX with upgrades and better QC in the $650 range would be a smash hit.

I am losing hope in waiting for this drop...... So I bought the Hifiman HE-560 from Hifiman instead . Spectacular !Even at the original price , these headphones have very high value/price ratio. They are comparable (in terms of sound quality alone) to the TOTL from other brands. I tried the HE-560 against my Sennheiser HD800s (which is a huge improvement over the HD800, and a bargin compared to other TOTL headphones like Utopia, HE1000 V2, and technically /sonically better than T1). Surprised to find that while HE-560 loses slightly in terms of details and soundstage, it has even better tonality than the HD800s ! It gets the best part of HD800s and LCD-2: detailed, clear, simmering but at the same time lush and liquid sounding ! Really want Massdrop will do the HE500 drop again so I can try HE560' s brother too.

seriously Massdrop, come on. 2000+ users have requested this drop to come back, I don't think I've seen this many requests on anything, ever. Stop re-dropping the 6XX (I love mine but I'm pretty sure everyone in the universe has one at this point) and re-drop this instead. I'd be all over it like flies to honey.

I did not, but Massdrop hasn't usually had any trouble selling old products. I've heard the newer ones are worse anyways.
