Very nice looking blade. Mine wasnt warped. But it did have a crack in the handle. I also expected this knife to be ground at something like 12.5 degrees but its 20+ degrees thats kindof weird. (Also, manix 2 LW s110v for comparison)

KaozerUpdate: after getting the knife professionally sharpened to my liking i have to say this knife is very very nice. Its fine blade makes slicing trough meat very easy. I guess it would be very nice to a hunter as well but this feels more like a gentlemans knife
Completely and utterly disappointed. The blade is pretty from about 2 feet away and in the photos. When looked at closer the blade is very coarsely finished and DULL. Can't even use it as a letter opener. My old Victorinox pocket knife blade is sharper and better finished. The packing was a bubble envelope and the box almost ripped through it; yeah, the box corners were probably as sharp as the knife itself. In the end, shame on me for relying on Massdrop's photos and description.

Just received my Hiro Kaioh in the mail from this drop. Looks? Gorgeous, this thing is a total stunner. Useful? The blade is warped and isn't even a perfectly straight edge. First thing I do with a new knife is A: Hold it up against a lightbulb to see how dull the factory edge is, and to see if the blade is straight, B: I do a copy paper test. This knife failed both. It's the only knife I've ever bought with a warped blade. I don't even know how that's possible - sheer apathy it seems. And it won't catch the edge of normal copy paper, and has about a 50% success rate of even puncturing the paper and cutting from there.
Looks: 10/10 Quality/Usability: 2/10
Will not be buying another Hiro, ever.

I should apologize here for the tone of my earlier comment. It was less than ideally civil. I was clearly in a worse-than-usual mood when I wrote it.
Please note, however, that I am not retracting the content. I am very disappointed with the condition of the blade. I have purchased knives that were not razor sharp out of the box, but never one that appears to have been barely ground at all. I like the design, and was looking forward to a slim blade (for fishing) with a comfortable grip, but the quality, as received, does not even begin to approach that of my Grohmann Bird & Trout (which was comparable in price). I'm off Hiro, and will probably refrain from further massdrop knife purchases. (I am in the Boker urban trapper Drop, and I can only hope for better results.)

GoodGriefIf it's any consolation, I have purchased other knives from here on Massdrop, and they were fantastic. I must argue that this is an issue with the supplier, and not Massdrop. Any business like this one is bound to have one or two bad eggs as they work with new suppliers. Coincidentally, I own a Boker Urban Trapper, and it's excellent for the price. Sharp enough out of the box to get through some wood, and quite light! Perfect gentleman's folder. I paid $60 for mine and I feel it was worth that price tag (not much more though, that's the sweet spot). Additionally, two days after my issue with the Hiro, my MCusta Rikyu from Massdrop arrived, and it's the nicest knife in my collection now.
I would ask that instead of writing off Massdrop, take a few minutes each time and research customer reviews on Amazon or Bladeforums or /r/Knifeclub, and then make sure there aren't comparable/better deals on Amazon, BladHQ, and once you're satisfied, buy the drop!

These remind me of a mora....only in a fancy, gentlemanly, almost regal kind of way. Even if they were full MSRP, the price seems pretty good.

Hey, these knives look really gorgeous.
They've got a form factor that I haven't really seen in most knives, however.
Has anyone used these knives? I'm wondering how they feel in the hand and how they handle when cutting.

K.T.NHiro knives seem to not be sold much in the US, though I'm not sure if that's because their usual market is elsewhere or because they're a recent company. Either way, I think you'll have to see how similar this design is to other slim fixed blades (fillet knife maybe?) to have an idea how it functions.
Fair warning, while Massdrop discussions don't necessarily have a representative sample of reviews, the other Hiro knife I can remember on here, the Nordic Hunter, had several people complain about quality control issues. I don't know the frequency or severity of the issues though, or whether this is common among Hiro's other knives.

I like folding knifes better, but this knife is way too beautifull to pass!
