Do give these to yourself
Cuts as you would expect, perfectly clipping nails precisely as you intend. The light wooden case has kept mine from being misplaced and dinged up. I use the cover to keep the cutting edge protected when not in use and the work the same today as they did years ago when I purchased them. The spring

just snapped on mine, possibly an unlucky defect, possibly a design with too sharp a bend in the spring steel, I am looking at buying new stainless spring steel and bending up a new spring because I like these so much. I would consider taking a star away but these are a 5 star product and deserve that rating, I am not going to make it a 4 star review because they are the best nail clippers I have ever used.

They are still working after I used them on me/wife/and the dogs.
Most clippers do not work after one nail on my big dogs. Spent a lot of money on vet. and drug store clippers that are just useless after very little use. They look great after one round on the family and hoping for many more rounds.

Love them
Sharp, well balanced, beautiful stainless steel and last, but not least - I am so attracted to the box!!! And yes, I would recommend them to a friend. I bought her a pair and she also loved them and the box.

Great handmade product that exceeded the expectations.
I expected good - hoped fore great, but i got something that blew me away - yes, such simple thing as nail clippers blew me away. I've never thought that sharpness can make such a big difference in speed and precision of trivial task as nail cutting. Well worth the price.

Extremely well made and beautifully presented.
Long wait for delivery, but well worth it. Pricey, but obviously wonderful quality.

Very medicore
This doesn't do any better job than a $5 toenail clipper. Very disappointed.

Surprisingly good
So I got this item as a gift for someone who wanted something "expensive, strange and unusual" because I thought a $60 pair of Japanese nail clippers made by a small family business met that description. I did some googling around and found out a little bit about the story of the maker (apparently his father also made nail nippers) and thought the recipient would appreciate the fact there's a little bit of a story/legacy behind it. I mean that's pretty wild that there's a father-son tradition of making nail nippers, who would have thought. I was pleasantly surprised by the product itself. 1) The pictures Massdrop uses do not do it justice it looks a lot nicer and more finished in person. I don't know how to explain it other than imagine a set of nail nippers, then imagine a set that's gone through like 6 more finished and polishing processes. The finish is a lot more matte in person, it's sort of like a highly polished bead blast look (though it is certainly NOT bead blasted, that's just the best way I know to describe that it's shiny but still very... gray). The picture makes it look like there's this huge gap between the jaws and there's really not. I'm sure there IS a gap because all cutters have a gap, but it's not like it appears. It's surprisingly sharp, comfortable to hold and well made. I couldn't resist trying it, so I tested it on one of my own toe nails and was surprised, it's far easier to use than the cheapo I normally trim my nails with (don't worry, I thoroughly disinfected it with some alcohol after, it's probably cleaner now than when I received it!). No idea how it will hold up though as I'm not going to be the long term owner, obviously. 2) The packaging/presentation is suprisingly interesting and I think the main reason the recipient will like it. I have no idea if the person I am giving this too will actually use it or just keep it as a curio, but the packaging helps a lot with that "strange and unusual" aspect of it. Do I recommend it despite praising it? Eh... For $60-$65 I don't think most people would see the value this a very niche item imho. It is well made so it does imho justify the cost it's just... do you really need an expensive pair of toenail cutters? If you really, really like grooming tools (no judgment from me!), maybe you collect stuff like this, or you have a situation like mine where you're trying to find an unusual item as a gift. I think for the person this is going to they will like it and be amused by it.

There is no comparison with the key ring clippers.. these are sharp make a clean cut. I hope these are a buy it once. They probably can/could be sharpened. Don’t t hesitate it’s a good product
