ShearMeGot it, thanks! But I really doubt if those 10 bucks swiss knife would work well on metals... Actually I found there are no descriptions about using a saw on metals even from Leatherman or Gaber... All they mentioned are woods.
HyperusMetal saws have much smaller and more broad teeth to withstand cutting into metal than those on a wood saw. I've never seen a metal saw included in a multitool, and I doubt they'd be popular enough for a factory to produce for sale.
If you need something for metal that folds, maybe the Milwaukee 48-22-0305 would do the trick.
iReptarrThe point of serrations is to increase surface area of the cutting edge, which is useful on thicker/cut-resistant materials like rope or a tasty steak. You can cut with a serrated knife in a sawing motion, but a saw cuts a channel in the material - it doesn't slice through whatever you're cutting like a knife.
Anyways, that's not really the question I was trying to answer. Definitely aren't going to get anywhere trying to use a serrated knife to cut through metal.
ShearMeI have both Swiss Army knives and Leatherman tools with a metal saw, usually on the edge/side of a file. Not the easiest to use, and the blade is usually too thick to make cutting easy, but I did on one memorable occasion saw through a padlock with my Victorinox.
Anyway, no disagreement with the original issue - serrated knives are for rope, cardboard etc., definitely not metal!
HyperusIf you're looking for a mutitool that can do some metal cutting Google the Gerber Legend MP800. It has a little abrasive saw that can cut metal and is replaceable.
