Hoya HD3 UV and Circular Polarizing Camera Filters

Featuring tough-as-nails, ultra-smooth nanocoating technology and hardened optical glass, Hoya’s H3 filters are designed for use in any weather environment—from bright sun to dust storms, freezing temperatures, and driving rain. Water rolls off, fingerprints and oil smudges are easily wiped away, and the filters resistant scratches and abrasion, too. They’re built to reduce reflections, flares, and ghosting, and thanks to the high-pressure, one-piece design, these filters won’t come apart like glass-mounted alternatives.

Developed to exceed the sharpness needs of 50-megapixel cameras entering the market, the Hoya HD3 UV filter has a new and improved 32-layer nanocoating that’s five times sharper and 800 percent harder than its predecessor, the Hoya HD2 UV. It also features chemically enhanced optical UV glass, which is four times harder than traditional optical glass.

The Hoya HD3 circular polarizer filter is equipped with a 16-layer nanocoating that’s twice as sharp and 200 percent harder than the previous generation. It also features the company’s high-transparency polarizing film, which allows two-thirds of a stop more light transmission than standard circular polarizing film while yielding more saturated colors and clarity.
