Product Description
Precise GPS locating, one-press auto-return, intelligent following, FPV real-time transmission—these are a few of the features you’ll find on the new Hubsan H502S Desire. A brushed motor provides smooth, stable flight for quality 720p HD footage, while a 4.3-inch LCD display on the transmitter offers immersive live-view footage and easy adjustments during flight Read More
Gonna put it here in case anyone else ends up with his camera suddenly stopping transmitting (half-assed Chinese programming, reminiscent of Fiio)...
To reset the drone's controller, turn the unit on while pushing both the joysticks to the upper-left corner. Then wobble them around and long-press one of them. Instructions should be displayed anyways.
Another thing worth mentioning, if you're planning to fly this thing in-doors, the drone produces a very loud and annoying noise when it's on. You cannot turn it off. Keep that in mind.
Edit: Flown it for 4 days before busting one of the motors, which is enough for a review from someone who doesn't care much about drones.
This is probably one of the cheapest ways (shipping excluded) to experience what real drones (not the cheap 10-meter range toys) are about. You get a taste of everything: Proper range, flight stabilization, real-time video, acceptable flight time and even some GPS functions which I didn't get to test (flying it in an urban area).
In open areas it's a bundle of fun, a new exciting experience if you haven't flown one yet and a great way to troll pets and innocent bystanders alike.
Unfortunately, a taste is precisely what you get: Connectivity becomes intermittent past 50 meters, stabilization either over- or undershoots on fast maneuvers (how the motor got damaged), the video quality is what smartphones shot a decade ago, battery indication is highly inaccurate (how the motor got broken) and while the drone doesn't look cheap, flying it feels like it. You get pretty jumpy flying it in a 3-meter vicinity of anything, particularly with the controller having the UI and responsiveness of something from the Soviet era.
Bottom line, I actually do recommend it for someone that wants to try something new or curious whether he might be interested in the hobby. Just note the use cases:
* In-doors if you have a big house. Also, have the propeller-protectors on.
* Outdoors in parks and trips. Might want to have the propeller-protectors on anyways.
Well they sent the package REALLY fast, and it arrived REALLY fast too. Unfortunately, it was sent with UPS, and it ended up being REALLY F***IN' EXPENSIVE, too!
Let's break it down:
Value: $100.
Shipping to Israel: $45 (Fine, I agreed to that.)
Tax (17% of total): $24.
UPS handling: $47 (What the fuck!)
So, for a $100 toy I ordered being drunk, I payed another $116 to receive it. This is total bullshit.
Please specify which delivery company and method you are going to use, Massdrop, because I'm fine waiting another month instead of blowing an additional third of the drop's value on "custom clearance" and "package handling" (what the fuck is that, no, seriously, do they pat the package, sing serenades to it while it's being delivered?).
my advice is don't waste your money..
why..?
well, ok, first it comes with three batteries.. one fat battery and two thin batteries..
the fat battery does not fit the drone OR the controller..
next, the batteries use a small two pin plug which, with the osteo-arthritis i have in my right hand makes it very difficult to plug in or remove..
not to mention it is tedious when swapping the battery should you be fool enough to buy spares or use the AA battery option for the controller..
then, once the batteries are charged (same dumb plug for the "charger") and you get the thing in the air it actually does fly but with very sensitive controls.. flys UP and around and down.. and shows a picture of what it sees with the tiny 720 camera..
i WILL say that since it is so light when you accidentally cut the lawn or trim the bushes with it there is no damage..
i suppose if i took some time and practiced with it i might get good at controlling it..
they also mention a manual.. what it really is is a pamphlet written in the usual poor translation from the original chinese..
with very limited information..
but since i bought the DJI massdrop mavic pro deal some months ago which is a really good drone this hubsan desire is WAAAY less desirable than the DJI's (i also have a phantom 3 and another 6 blade DJI) why waste my limited time on this earth practicing on a toy..
and that is what this is, a toy..
forum.thinkpads.comWould agree the manual sucks massive balls, but if you look online, there's a solution for both of your (and initially mine) problems. Other than the battery plug, which sucks as well.
Firstly, the fat battery fits into the remote and plugs in into the red connector. It's a bit hidden initially, but once you find it, you're done.
Secondly, the sensitivity can be lowered through the menu by pointing the left joystick down and keeping the right one pressed for a second.
Also agree that the camera sucks, but I personally had no expectations from it.
forum.thinkpads.comThe fat battery does fit in the controller.. lay it flat in the door and then slide it to the side "into" the remote so that you can plug in the wires.
Ty-Carwonderful.. i'll sell you the one i got.. but my advice is don't waste your money..

i will repeat this in my "review" of the hubsan drone..
Ty-CarYeah! The drone has a micro SD slot. Put one in there, (16GB is recommended) and press the "record" button on the remote to start or stop recording. You can also press the "picture" button to snap a single photo.
