I wouldn't touch this with a 10-foot pole. I had a similar setup for my phone's GPS mount back when I lived in Louisiana. The sun shining through the front windshield melted the plastic casing and it plummeted. The phone also had overheating issues from being placed there.
I've found the best placement for a phone is using a vent mount. For summer, the A/C blows over the phone keeping it cooler. In winter I use the defrost/foot vents, so no air blows directly on the phone when I'm running the heat.
This setup looks cool, but I wouldn't use it in a southern state or in the summer up north as well.

Medion...well, are you sure whatever you bought was the same quality and/or higher quality than this? I have, and know many people who have similar items to this, plastic phone mounts placed around the same area in front of the steering wheel, and I don't know anyone who has had that problem. It might just be that you bought a very bad quality item.
Also, I live in SoCal. It's pretty hot here. Like 40+ year drought hot.

Arker_1While your comment is a valid concern, the main problem is phone placement, as I mentioned at the end of the first paragraph and throughout the second. Using this setup will overheat your phone. My wife's iPhone just shuts off, and every Android I've used gets insanely hot and throttles.

Arker_1I actually just bought this through newegg. About 2 weeks in the magnetic base just fell off of the mirror module/stand. It was just glued on. Also, you pretty much HAVE to use their apps which aren't very reliable. And then you also have to pay for those apps to unlock features or support. This product is pretty crap.

MedionMy iphone worked fine after accidentally leaving it in the sun in my backyard... ...then again it was only for like 7 minutes, but after I brought it in the thing was burning hot.

Doer"just glued on"? I mean, there are strong types of glue. What color was the glue, and did any pieces of the plastic break off/did the glue damage the other piece of the plastic? Also, did the glue crack, and both pieces have glue on them, or did one side fall out of the glue?

Arker_1Left outside in the sun = hot Left on a dashboard, behind auto glass, in the sun, during a Louisiana summer, while running navigation = burning hot chipset and the phone will auto shut down.
Huge difference.

MedionNot here in San Diego, no... I mean, my parents and my friends use these types of devices all the time, and my little brother has put an iPad on the dashboard before during a road trip, and it was fine after around 5 minutes of searching through a bag. (the road trip was to Nevada, so it was pretty hot and the iPad wasn't in a shadow or anything) Nothing so far has overheated, except for that trashy TomTom GPS from like 5-10 years ago.

Arker_1You're not understanding the difference here. Let me try again.
Phone+heat+beamed through auto glass+ running navigation software = hot to the point of thermal throttling.
Setting an iPad (which is larger and has better thermal dissipation properties than a phone) on the dash for 5 minutes is not comparable.

MedionActually, it is quite comparable, and either way, I have stated several times that me, my parents, my friends and colleagues, and my siblings have ALL used various devices(iPhones, android phones, windows phones, tablets, etc.) on the dashboard, running various apps(navigation software, video streaming apps, music apps, etc.) for medium periods of time(1-2 hours), without the device thermal throttling, or shutting itself down due to heat. Granted that's happened once, but that was an iPhone 4, which was also 3 years old at the time, and we were driving through the desert around Las Vegas.

BrainFlushThe AC was on for part of that, yes, but the AC in our car is focused towards the back; the area near the windshield doesn't have any air flow, from last I checked, and it does get quite hot there. I would know; put my feet up once on that road trip in Nevada and took em back down within the minute.
