No deal here!
I can purchase the 3 liter with the tubing and bite valve on Amazon for $18.00 less, which also takes into account the shipping charged on this drop.
I would like to order both the 3L & 2 L. Why is freight $7.75 for two vs $3.75 for one? That's more than double. Shouldn't there be a savings on freight? Is something messed up? Thanks.
I never received my order and the estimated ship date was over a month ago. Anyone else have the same problem? From what I here this is a pretty common problem when using this site. Never using this site again after this.
SkonOfVulcanI don't think Hydrapak does unless they recently added them to the line. Camelbak and Osprey both have sealing quick disconnect versions, Osprey being the better value, or you could pick up the Sawyer kit, which is just straight through flow with no sealing. The CPC company makes most of these fittings and you can buy them from somewhere like US Plastics or McMaster-Carr, but the pricing/shipping is kind of a killer.
Anyone wonder why insulating materials are black rather than white or silver? Considering heat transmission relevant in this situation only occurs via conduction and radiation, black absorbs radiated heat and the material has its own conductive property – black could *potentially* be good for preventing freezing IF it is a good conductor of heat, i.e., NOT an insulator; black would NOT be good to prevent tube contents from getting warm when coolness is desired unless it is a lousy conductor and exceptional insulator, which is unlikely. Really, they ought to provide two sheaths to cover each situation.
CromulentYeah, more for keeping it from freezing than keeping it cool. That said, I've used black covers for years and they do a surprisingly decent job of keeping the tube water from getting hot, contrary to what one would expect. If it's really an issue you can pick up tan, sage, or blue ones from other vendors.
Can anyone speak to the taste of the water from the Hydrapak?
I have Camelbak's brand new one and have tried every possible method for removing the plastic flavor to no avail. I can eliminate it for several hours by soaking it with a baking soda/vinegar solution before filling but anything longer and that nasty taste returns.
I read many reviews on reservoirs before purchasing the Camelbak and so few mention any flavor and some reported no flavor. Either people are lying or just don't care about plastic flavored water.
FuzzymuzzleYes plastic taste is there but not as bad as a camelbak. I've switched to this from my 4 year old camelbak. This isn't as bad compare to the camelbak, it isn't as strong. I only use mine when pack weight is really an issue and I have to carry high volume, otherwise I'll try to stick to my titanium bottles for low volume or multiple SS when pack weight isn't an issue.
arislanI have a brand new Crux Camelbak...said to be way better than the older ones but again, to me it's pretty nasty within several hours. Pretty inconvenient to have to soak it with baking soda and vinegar so often. My plain Camelbak water bottle barely needs to be cleaned and has zero taste. Can't wait till the tech catches up to my taste.
