Lighter and easier to carry than traditional bottles, the Hydrapak Stow collapsible bottle is a great alternative for backpacking, running, hiking, or daily commutes. Made of an abrasion-resistant TPU and HDPE blend, the bottle weighs just 1.5 ounces and collapses down to the size of Clif Bar Read More
Like: Collapsible after it has been drained
Water tight and dont have to worry about any spills
Dislike: Wish they had bigger sizes for people who drink more water
They had a plastic taste which eventually went away. They are easy to transport when empty, but this means they are trickier to fill and manipulate when full of water, which you get used to. Generally I'm happy with the product. Love the colors too.
Easy to store... easy to fill. They can get a little pressurized on an airplane, but other than that - pretty awesome little bottles for when you don't need insulation and want to pack light.
Light and packable. The plastic taste did go away for me. My main issues are:
They pretty much never dry. A small mouth combined with a body that you can't keep expanded means there is always some water trapped in there somewhere.
Tricky to fill. They won't stand up on their own, and holding it by the body will collapse it, so you need to hold it by the loop. This makes filling from a water purifier difficult.
Durability? They seem pretty solid for general use, but I doubt it would survive an encounter with a crampon.
Have been trying for weeks and the plastic taste just keeps on coming. It instantly taints your drinking water and its not just a slight plastic taste, it is full on. Yes I have tried the Lemon Juice and freezer trick. I now have to evaluate all the other hydropak stuff I purchased and have put aside into emergency kits, because none of it can be trusted to do the job it is sold fit for.
I bought these because they are super light. On arrival both my bottles weighed 54 Grams or 1.9 Ounces each. This is 26% heavier than the stated 1.5 oz. Much lighter than a 1 qt Nalgene bottle which weighs 180 G. Using these will pull 1/2 pound out of my pack. Time will tell if the non-standard caps and threads will be an issue. With the cap off they empty very quickly so be careful how you hold them.
Great product.
Some plastic taste that will hopefully wear off.
Easy to fill from tap, hang on stuff and to carry using the loop.
Doesn't take room in your bag when not in use (which is the main reason to purchase it)
If it will survive my daily gym routine for a year then I'm happy.
