I have been an Icebreaker fan for about 20 years - 6 children kitted out beanie to socks in the stuff (as well as the adults) over this time.
Unfortunately the new offerings which are not 100% wool (as the original products were) are a major disappointment.
These boxers are not made for comfort.
1. the leg is too short, so it rides up in walking, turning them into briefs - with folds at the top of the thigh. 2. the design is for folk with a "thigh gap" - a la Barbie. If you are not so blessed, the seam running from the middle of the back to the front is very uncomfortable. It is not a seam designed to minimise chaffing as we get on good hiking gear. It is proud of the fabric. 3. the pouch for the "crown jewels" fails when walking, leaving these precious parts jammed uncomfortably into the leg section. Finding a discrete spot to readjust can be a problem. Not adjusting is also a problem. 4. the feel of the fabric is unpleasantly harsh and prickly. It has not the softness of the original Icebreaker 100% merino products. It might be the added Lycra. Perhaps they changed the wool source. [The original boast of 100% New Zealand merino has gone from the label and packaging, as has the suggestion to meet the sheep who produced it by tracing the wool on line.] Whatever the cause, the Icebreaker boxers feel cheap and nasty to me by comparison with what I am used to from this brand. The difference is like a cheap wool jumper and a nice good one.
The synthetics from other vendors feel far more luxurious, soft and smooth.
The ExOfficio Give n Go boxers offered recently on Massdrop are far better designed (have none of the above problems) and feel better.
