MebaruHi Mebaru- This garment is WAAAAAY warmer than 200 weight fleece. It is insulated in strategic spots to keep your core warm without making you look crazy puffy like the Michelin man. What you are wearing for your base layer is where wicking happens. Proper materials and fit for your base layers is what will contribute to successful wicking performance, avoid cotton. Merino wool is my champion base layer fabric, although some prefer synthetic. The drawback to synthetics are that they stink and are petrochemical based (straight up barrels of crude oil)

redchiliThanks, I know a thing or two about layering :) In my experience, merino as a base layer isn't great for heavy activities. When it gets wet it stays wet. A thin quality synthetic base layer works better transferring moisture and keeping your torso dry.
